Typical Shimano Quality
Great tool, and a necessity if you need to break chains with quicklinks regularly. I use hot wax lubricant so I use this tool at least once every 200-300 miles. It removes as easily as it installs, and it’s slipped on me only once.

Best Master Link tool I’ve found
The clever design of this tool makes removal AND replacement of stubborn Shimano master links easy. For reassembly, I like the ability to pinch the side plates to together with one hand, while using the tool with the other.

A clever design makes changing chains a breeze
The key feature to know about this tool is that, because of the clever design, it both removes and reinstalls your chain’s quick-link. There are several cheaper versions on the market that will remove the link, but putting it back on with them is a nightmare. If you are using one of these it is easier to leverage the link closed by pushing the pedal while holding the brake, but this can also be a bit fiddly. The Shimano tool is not cheap compared to other options on the market, but if you pull your chain often it is well worth the higher price. Anyone doing chain waxing needs this tool.

Handy to have in toolbox for bikes.
Easy to use for both installing and removing bicycle chain.

3 is better than 2
Works better than my Park Tool master link tool since it opens and closes the link

Shimano chain? Shimano tool, simple as that.
This thing just works. I figured the Shimano tool would work best with a Shimano chain and I was right. I’m glad I got it. I used it to remove and reconnect an 11 speed 105 and a 12 speed ultegra chain without any problems.

klein, leicht, handlich und stabil
Am Wochenende war das Werkzeug zum ersten Mal im Einsatz und ich bin begeistert. Klein, leicht, handlich, stabil und somit kommt es nun dauerhaft mit in die Packtasche.

Great Purpose Quality Tool
Well crafted purpose tool for easy removal/assembly of Quicklink type bicycle chains. Really like the embedded indicators in the tool. Previously used a brandless Aliexpress one, small, quite flimsy and difficult to handle. This is a great addition to my quality bicycle tool box.

Expensive, poorly designed, and apparently incapable of surviving normal use
On my TL-CN10, the chain-breaking “REMOVE” side is visibly misaligned. The driving pin no longer lines up with the chain pin/support, so the chain slips sideways when pressure is applied. The apparent reason is even worse: the center section that supports the chain appears to have BENT. On a chain breaker. A tool whose entire purpose is to withstand substantial force while keeping everything perfectly aligned. I spent way too long assuming I was doing something wrong because this is a premium Shimano tool. But the tool itself has apparently deformed enough that the REMOVE side no longer works correctly. Rigidity and alignment are basically the entire point of a chain breaker. If a structural part can bend through normal use and destroy that alignment, what exactly are you paying Shimano’s premium price for? Extremely disappointing durability. Save your money.
