    Toller und schöner Steuersatz

    Dieser Steuersatz ist wirklich einfach zu montieren,sogar falls man es erstmal falsch einsetzt kann man es voninnen mit dem Schraubenzieher wieder rausdrücken, ohnedie schönen Schriftzüge und den Lack zu beschädigen.Das material fühlt sich wertig an und ist alles wiederzusammengebaut, ist jedes Rad optisch aufgewertet.Die Einbauhinweise mit Spezialwerkzeug finde ich überzogen,einfach eine kleine Holzplatte oder ähnliches Benutzen und sovermeidet man beim Eindrücken Beschädigungen.

    Für neue Gabel an 10 Jahre altem MTB

    Bei meinem Bike (BJ 2004) wurde mir die Federgabel geklaut. Da sich dabei der Steruersatz in alle vier Himmelsrichtungen verteilte (die Lagerschalen im Steruerrohr des Rahmens, der Gabelkonus auf der entwendeten Gabel, die Lagerkugeln unauffindbar auf dem Kellerboden), habe ich mich gezwungen gesehen, für den Einbau der neuen Gabel auch gleich einen neuen Steuersatz zu verwenden.Nach enigen Recherchen bezüglich der verschiedenen Standards von Steuersätzen habe ich mich dann für diesen hier entschieden, da er zu meinem Rahmen passt. Vorher war auch einer von RITCHEY drin und daher habe ich dann einfach wieder die gleiche Marke gewählt.Bei diesem Steuersatz hier sind die Lagerkugeln übrigens integriert und können nicht mehr rausfallen ;-)Tip: Der Einbau des Steuersaatzes ist ansich nicht wirklich kompliziert und mit etwas Recherche und handwerklichem Geschick auch schnell selbst gemacht. Für den Einbau des Steuersatzes wird allerding von den Herstellern die Verwendung eines speziellen Einpresswerkzeuges für die Lagerschalen und eines Aufschlagtools für den Gabelkonus sowie eines Einschlagtool für die Gabelschaftkralle vorgeschrieben bzw. empfohlen. Wenn man das im Leben nur einmal braucht und auch sonst keinen Wert auf den Punkt “Einmal im Leben selbst Gabel in Bike eingebaut” legt, dann bringt man die Einzelteile einfach zum Fahrradhändler des Vertrauens und lässt alles zusammenbauen.Ansonsten funktioniert der Steuersatz sehr gut. Er ließ sich gut Einstellen – danach hatte die Gabel kein Spiel mehr und die Lenkung war weiterhin ausreichend leichtgängig. Nach bisher gefahrenen 1.000 Kilometern weiterhin keine Probleme mit dem neuen Steuersatz.PS: Punkt “Einmal im Leben selbst Gabel in Bike eingebaut” wurde von mir natürlich erfolgreich abgehakt

    Quality headset.

    Bought this as I was changing the forks on my bike and didn’t want to refit the original headset.This is an excellent well made product and I’m glad I spent that bit extra instead of going for a cheaper option.If you’re looking for a replacement headset, you won’t go wrong with this.

    Decent budget headset

    A good solid yet affordable headset. Comes with sealed cartridge bearings but don’t be afraid to chuck a bit more grease on during assembly.Crown race is not a split one – which you would expect on a sealed cartridge unit – but that’s no bad thing as long as you don’t need to take it off your forks again.Installation easy and simple to follow instructions, for anyone unsure how it goes together.Tools for the job are pretty simple: you can install the new race using some pvc plumbing pipe, tap it into place on the forks to fit it. To fit the headset parts either use a headset press or careful persuasion with a couple of blocks of wood. Easy peasey.

    RITCHEY HEADSETS ARE ALL I WILL BUY

    RITCHEY HEADSETS ARE GREAT. I HAVE NEVER WORN ONE OUT AND THE ONLY REASON I REPLACED THEM IS I UPGRADED THE 25 YEAR OLD FORKS THAT WERE ON MY SCWINN MOAB MOUNTAIN BIKES. THEY ARE REASONABLY PRICED, EASY TO INTALL WITH THE PROPER TOOLS AND RUN SUPER SMOOTH. WHAT MORE COULD A GUY ASK FOR. I WILL ALWAYS BUY RITCHEY HEADSETS. CHEERS TO ALL YOU FOLKS AT RITCHEY.

    Could not get it to tighten properly

    I am not sure if it is my bike or the headset but I could not get it to tighten properly. Normally I tighten down until I feel resistance and back off a 1/8 turn at a time until I get it how I like it and there will be no play. But I could never get the play out of this headset no matter how much I torqued it. I put it in my spares box and when I need to replace a headset on one of my other bikes I will try it again.

    Trash with trash inside

    Installed fine, Im sure it would work fine if it stays together. Had to work on my suspension fork and when I was reinstalling my fork somehow broke the bottom cup bearing. Red ring came out from around the dust shield. Bearing ring fell out and bearings immediately fell out of the ring. The bearings inside are also trash. Chinziest looking stuff. I know its not a King or a Cane Creek, replacing this junk w a Cane Creek 40, but I still expected it to be a bit better. Gonna try to return it, we’ll see how it goes…

    Decent for road, wouldn’t trust for MTB

    Using to convert an old Mountain Bike to a gravel bike. Decent for that use however I wouldn’t trust it on a true Mountain bike
