Excellent cameras, though no still photo capability

I bought this helmet for a trip in the brought, Caribbean sunlight where I’ll need to remain focused along small, ancient streets with a lot of cars and pedestrians. That said, I *usually* bike in the middle of the night, so I require as much fidelity as possible in low-light conditions. This is the second helmet I’ve tried. Without any lights, turn signals, or even MIPS, it’s pretty barebones. The visor isn’t detachable. I have an extra large skull, and there is just a millimeter or two between the bridge of my nose and the arch of the opening in the middle of the visor. There is Bluetooth and speakers above the ears, but I prefer something more private. The helmet does indicate when it is charging (and ceases to once finished). The front camera can be configured for 1K or 2K. The rear can be configured for 1K. There is an app that allows you to get a live view, configure the cameras, download the videos, and capture individual frames from the videos. In order to connect to the helmet, you need to short-press the camera button to activate the wifi. It’s not automatically available. The front video was actually excellent in low-light and no-light conditions (as good as can be expected). The rear camera was worse, which isn’t surprising. It’s a pretty expensive helmet, but I’d expect the extra cost goes into the cameras. The video format is MPEG-TS. Odd, but easily convertable. It’s stored as this directly on the SD card, and downloaded verbatim via the app. The videos are broken into certain intervals of time, either one, two, or three minutes. It came with a measly 32Gb micro-SD card, which I swapped for a 128Gb.Features that I’m not a fan of:- No ability to capture stills while biking without the phone/app. Is the quality on the videos wasn’t so good in the dark, this would be a deal breaker. It’s also why they lost a star. I’ll have to buy a second camera for the bike, just for this.- You can lock images, which is easy to do while blindly trying to push the right button. There is no way to unlock them either from the helmet or even from the app.- Again, the visor does not detach. There are going to be times that I’d rather leave it at home, but this isn’t an option.- The battery percentage reported via Bluetooth was *all over the place*. It was 80% (at home), 60% a moment later, and then 100% a minute after plugging it in.- It *would not charge* using my existing USB-C wire. I needed to use the one that came with. Not only do they specify that you shouldn’t “fast charge” the helmet, I think it actively refuses to charge if it’s backed by a lot of wattage, rather than just throttling the charge (which I’d assume that should be possible). I tried another wire connected to a different charger and it was fine.- There is little to no venting in the shell. There are some holes, but it’s not clear whether they penetrate. When blowing air through, the inner hull seems to heat up, but you can’t feel it.The attached video is of a lit street in the middle of the night via the front camera while configured for 1K (2K halves the battery to only a couple of hours). The video was better than expected, and this was still with the protective, plastic film attached.

    Good, but not great.

Good helmet however I don’t expect it to do much to save my life as it doesn’t feel safe. You can’t beat dual cameras built into your helmet. However the quality of the cameras isn’t great. It’ll definitely be your road witness but I almost got hit by a truck and surprisingly wasn’t able to get the plates because of the camera quality. I do think the price of this helmet isn’t worth what you’re getting in terms of quality & safety. Also the files are locked to the device. I tried using the memory card in my laptop and couldn’t retrieve any of the videos. I have to go through the app to view/save footage which wouldn’t be helpful if the helmet got too damaged to turn on in case of an accident. I do think that significantly reduces to the value of this helmet as you have to expect one day it’ll get damaged and you’ll need to footage from it. Additionally, the helmet can get hot on hot days as it’s basically a big electronic constantly recording on your head. There’s no holes in the helmet, like to protect the electronics or for the aesthetic, to dissipate heat so if you are in the sun long enough this black helmet can have you sweating. I would love to be able to replace the visor as it’s gotten scuffed so I can’t see out of it properly. I’ve taken it off but I did appreciate that added protection from bugs. Also it would be great if I could turn the volume off or down. Can you get a helmet exactly like this? Not from what I’ve searched. Is this helmet good? Yes. Is it great? No. It’s got a lot of features built into it but I do think they could be better. If the company ever came out with an upgraded version, even if it cost more, with better quality cameras, better heat dissipation, and unlocked files I absolutely would buy it.

    Great helmet

This is a great helmet that comes with so many cool features. The front and rear cameras work well and record clear video. You can control when to record and stop with your phone. You can play music from your phone to the helmet, and the sound is great. You can also take phone calls since it connects via Bluetooth to your phone. The helmet itself is very sturdy and lightweight, but it definitely feels like it can protect you. It also comes with 2 visors: a clear one and a shaded one for the sun. I use to have to strap a GoPro to my helmet for videos, but not anymore with this one. I would highly recommend this helmet

    Front and rear cameras

This seems to be the best bike helmet as it is lightweight, has front and rear cameras and you can view it live with your phone. Auto starts recording when it is turned on and also comes with two sun visors/shields.

    love it

Love the helmet, hooks up via bluetooth and I can listen to my music without putting an earpiece in. Stays charged for a long period of time. Has lights for added security

Everything you need for your road trip under the hood

The Dual Sport Camera Helmet, has significantly enhanced my daily cycling experience. I used to have a GoPro stuck on the top of my previous helmet, but it only helped to record front of me, and didn’t have all those extra features this one has either. Here’s a detailed review based on my usage so far.Front and Rear Dual Sport Cameras:The helmet features front and rear cameras that will capture every unexpected event while cycling/motorbiking. The video quality is HD (1080p) in front, and basic 720p in the back, providing clear and crisp recordings that are perfect for both safety and reminiscing about my rides. The ability to capture dual perspectives ensures that I don’t miss anything, whether it’s the scenic route ahead or what’s happening behind me.App Integration:One of the standout features is the seamless integration with the exclusive app. Playing recorded videos to check a particular event, or have a preview of what the cameras are seeing in real time is a breeze. The app is user-friendly and allows me to change a few helmet’s settings, such as video resolution, or watermark. This convenience adds a lot of value to the helmet, making it easy to showcase my cycling adventures, without the need of a computer.Safety and Comfort:Safety is paramount, and the EPS protective shell provides excellent protection. The helmet feels sturdy yet lightweight. The adjustable head fit ensures a comfortable and secure fit, even during long rides. I appreciate the attention to both safety and comfort, as it gives me peace of mind while cycling.Bluetooth Connectivity:The Bluetooth connectivity is a game-changer. I can easily connect the helmet to my smartphone, enabling hands-free voice calls, voice navigation, and music playback. This feature allows me to stay connected and entertained without compromising my safety. The audio quality is OK, but not as good as if it was coming from some earbuds, but the built-in controls are intuitive and easy to use.Water Resistance and Battery Life:With an IPS5 water-resistance rating, the helmet performs well in various weather conditions. I’ve ridden through light rain without any issues, and the helmet’s components remained unaffected. The inbuilt battery provided me almost 4 hours of continuous use, which is sufficient for my typical rides. Recharging is straightforward, using the integrated USB-C plug and included cable.Overall, and although that the recorded audio and sound quality coming from the helmet’s tiny speakers, will have to see some improvement in the future (firmware update?), I am satisfied with this smart helmet.

    Reliable video recording!

I’m really impressed with how much thought went into the design of this bluetooth helmet. The dual cameras are the standout feature for me — the front camera can be set to 2K in the app, and the rear captures in 1080P. The video is smooth and clear, which gives me peace of mind knowing I’ve got a record of my rides from both angles. The new Smart Helmet Pro app makes it easy to edit and share clips, though I will say the Bluetooth and app can’t run at the same time — something I wish was more seamless. That said, the Bluetooth connection works great on its own for calls, music, or navigation, and I like that the helmet automatically starts recording as soon as it powers on without needing to fuss with settings.Comfort-wise, the fit is adjustable and snug without being heavy, and the EPS shell feels solid and protective. I’ve ridden through light rain and the IPS5 water resistance holds up fine. Battery life averages around four hours, which has been enough for my commutes and weekend rides.Overall, this helmet balances safety, convenience, and fun really well. If you want a smart helmet with reliable video recording and solid Bluetooth features, this one is a great pick.
