Nice specialized bike tool for anyone with SRAM cranks

Is this a must have bike tool, probably not, but boy does it make life a lot easier. I’ve removed my SRAM BB30 cranks from my MTB numerous times without a specialize tool and it works ok with a standard adjustable spanner wrench if you can find one with small enough pins; but you definitely need to be careful while doing it since you only engage with 2 of the 4 holes on the cap. This tool is so much more user friendly to use while servicing your BB. The 4 pins engage securely with the cap and I love that I can now use a 3/8 ratchet with the tool and properly torque the cap as part of my service (I’ve lost one of these on the trail before!).

If you have DUB and ever take the cap off, you need this. Not just once

In my experience, the DUB crank bolt removing caps never stay tight if they ever come off (and sometimes just because). Having the right tool handy is critical to keep it on.Do keep in mind that the torque goes through tiny little pins. I’m sure they won’t survive excessive force. But most of these work that way.

    Verify fit for SRAM crank

Self self-extracting cap on SRAM cranks is curved so the tool does not sit flush and slips. Pins bent easily and scratched the crank and cap.

    Does not work on Shimano

Does not fit Shimano pin or star caps

Pins Too Short For SRAM DUB

Pins are too short and will scratch the surface of your crank. DO NOT USE THIS TOOL ON A SRAM DUB BB

    Find Another Tool

First use and two of the four pins bent. I was able to still use it but the quality is not good. I would recommend looking for another tool instead.

Don’t buy weak all teeth will break.

Poor quality. it needs to be made of steel. Aluminum with such short contact surface will just failk.it can’t handle the torque this the cap requires. not the shimano nor the DUB sram.

The best version of this tool with very one minor flaw

RISK did an absolutely fantastic job with the design of this tool. I have only one complain, which I’ll address first: it’s aluminum, and not at all magnetic! As such, it can’t go on my magnetic trays along with my other cap and cassette removal adapters. I’ve stuck it on my socket adapter set for now, but the solution may be to grind down one side and attach an earth magnet using epoxy. I can understand why they went with aluminum to keep weight down and for anodizing/markings.The two removal sides just work. What’s surprising is how they managed to make BOTH orientations compatible with either a 6mm Allen key or a 3/8″ anvil. Yes, the anvil does seat on the 4-pin side without any extensions. Someone clearly thought out the design for this, and deserves a raise, because this is one of the better designed adapters I’ve ever seen.

Tried to sell me a used and defective item. Waste of time.

The item shipped to me has obviously been used. Complete waste of my time. Plastic package was open, pins are bent and anodizing is scraped off where ratchet drive goes in.
