Bought this when I found that I needed a means for setting the crown race on a new Manitou Mastodon fork on my Farley 7, because the taper on the steerer didn’t allow me to simply push the race down into place with my fingers. This worked well in the general since to set that race and seems to be a great value for something I’m not going to use a whole lot and not wanting to spend max $ on a Park or expensive brand. Seems well made and likely to last a long time. I like the options for larger and smaller diameter race setting, which will cover most bikes.

the ol’ pvc pipe trick wasn’t cutting it. l ordered this tool. it worked well on a straight 1 1/8″ steerer tube. a couole of bangs and the crown race was set. evenly. l kinda like this tool better than a plastic pipe because you don’t need a big mallet or hammer. you can’t miss getting a good strike cuz you’re just sliding the collar along the tube. l thought it fit my crown race well. and it sat down perfectly

It did the job. Mine didn’t come with instructions so I had to watch videos and then wing it. It worked as it should, my only gripe is that the end you hit, bent, in what I feel, was pretty easily. You may want to use a piece of wood to ease the blow.

Do NOT use on taper forks.
Do not use on tapered forks. I purchased to install the crown race on my new suspension and all went well until I tried to remove the coupler and it was stuck on. Had to destroy the tool and mar up my forks to get it back off.I would never recommend this product to anyone. Scratched the heck out of my forks.

Hey folks. I put pictures in there because I read a few reviews hear that say you cannot do a one and 1/8 inch headset bearing race with this tool. Absolute Lee completely false! This kit comes with 1 1/2 & 1 1/8Four or five slabs with the slide tube, and my bearing race, which was tough to seat, was in perfect position.Highly recommend it, especially for the price
