Works for Me
I plan on rebuilding my 2 On-Road bikes and all its brake and shift cables needs replacing. This tool will be my extra hand in pulling and holding both brake and derailleur cables to pre-tension the cables. After pre-tensioning the cables, it will be easier to fine tune the shifting and braking of each bike. Great tool for a DIY’er.

What this is not.It is NOT a Park Tool BT-2 Fourth Hand.If you work on bikes, spend the money and BUY the Park one.Myself, I have misplaced my good one, so bought this as a cheap one to use until I locate my good Park one.Super thin handles – badLocking mech doesn’t stay put so it always locks itself – badBuild quality results in cables getting jammed which defeats the entire purpose of the tool.My advice, avoid this unit and spend the money on a real one from Park Tools.

They are junk
Junk…absolutely junk. Used on adult bicycle brake cable, from the start the cable would go under the tensioner. Getting stuck between the tensioner and the tool. Which would cause the cable to get bound up. After a few tries I put them back into the package to be sent back and used a pair of pliers. These are absolutely junk.

Great tool! At first I had some trouble with them, but it was user error. Now, I use them all the time for brake adjustments. I’d recommend to anyone who doesn’t have an extra hand while adjusting brake cables.

Worthless, total junk. Spend some money and get a better one. The cable gets pinched in it every time I put tension on it. Cannot recommend.

For the price, work well, cut without bending my line. I’ve only used it once, so I don’t how it will do over time, but For the occasional use, it’s been good.
