I am a new captain of recumbent tandem and I am attempting to operate the whole enterprise on first principles. Historically, the captain of a tandem is an autocratic position and all bicycle controls are under his/her control. The stoker has head pointed toward the pavement and is in no position to see the surroundings. But on a recumbent, the stoker can look around. So I am taking a more democratic approach and will try to give the stoker a rear brake handle for emergency use (as if the stoker sees an oncoming car at an intersection and I don’t).Tandems are not traditionally equipped with such provisions so I am on my own foraging new territory. Adding an additional brake is costly, but I have found an adapter whereby two handles can be used to operate the same brake. But I have need for another handle.The brake handle set of interest is well built and finished. The handle bar grips need to be removed so that the handle can be installed. They are handed, in the sense that the bolt head should be pointed up, which also exposes the printed logo.

Seem to work just fine for my needs. All metal is a plus at this price point. Action is smooth and install pretty cake. Time will tell how durable they are but they feel like they could take some abuse.

The threads pulled out of my old one and this was a perfect fit and adjust very easily. The lever is very strong and durable I have dropped it on that side several times without issues.

These appear to be quite solid (not plastic like the ones I replaced). They do stand off the handlebar a bit more, so little fingers may struggle to reach all the way around the levers.
