Tall guy on mountain bike is happy

First off, I am a semi-serious rider. I’m no pro, but I ride often enough to know I like this handlebar.I am about 6-1 and on plenty of rides, I would feel that lower back pain associated with leaning over handlebars. With a mountain bike, the stock handlebar was barely raised. With that handlebar I was constantly leaning over, using upper body strength to keep myself in a safe riding position. When I put on the new bar, the difference was instantaneous. The new position is way more comfortable, and the back pain is more rare. I am definitely more vertical when I ride, and for me, that’s a good thing. This bar is raised kinda high. It is higher than I thought it was by looking at the picture. It somewhat resembles the handlebar of a beach cruiser, but not as exaggerated. For me, it worked out well, and I am very satisfied. The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is this: the handlebar curves a little bit, forcing my wrists to turn outwards while riding. This would be beneficial to people who are shorter than me, but for me, it is a mild hindrance. I think its because this handlebar wasn’t meant for mountain bikes, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen black bars on a cruiser….o.OIf you are tall and you want a more comfortable riding position – get this!

    Just what was needed.

I didn’t purchase this handlebar for my own use, but to help my riding partner with getting a little height to take the pressure off her hands, which went numb after about 3 miles of casual riding. This handlebar seems to have solved much of the problem, along with the use of ergonomic grips and frequent changes of hand positions while riding. My friend seems much more relaxed on rides and can now ride longer without significant discomfort in her hands. The handlebar gave a moderate rise in height that aided the rider in maintaining a more upright position without looking silly or top heavy. The best aspect is that the use of this handlebar didn’t require ANY modification to the bike’s cabling, though initially there was a slight binding problem with tight turns (since resolved). This handlebar is very well constructed, sturdy and the black paint appears to be durable. Overall, the handlebar is a great value and saved my riding partner from having to give up riding, get another bike and/or fitting or make major modifications at a greater expense than could be justified for casual riding.

Not the quality of my original handlebars.

ends of the tube(the cut) were slightly flared, not finished properly, Hard to transfer stuff from old bike. Finished is glossy and paint scratches easily. Also, the diameter of the tube is just a minute amount wider in diameter, so hard to mount existing hardware over to it. Harder to mount stuff and not scratch the paint. Not happy. Should been a baked on finish. If all one has are brakes handles, be ok. Or a 20 inch kids bike, single speed with no brakes to mount on handle, then be fine. I have an E-bike, with the twist throttle, 8-speed gear selector, brakes and grips, I cannot mount them on this handlebar, not long enough straight portions at end of handlebar.

These Riser Bars Will Give You A More Upright Riding Posture.

If You Want To Achieve A More Upright Riding Posture Then Consider Ordering These Bars. I Installed Them On My Wife’s Specialized City Bike And The Results Were Profound. Because These Steel Bars Boast A Whopping 5.5 Inch Rise, It Can Really Make A Difference In Riding Comfort Because The Cyclist Won’t Need To Ride Hunched Over. I Gave These Bars 4 Stars Because They Are Steel And Not Aluminum, But To Be Honest The Weight Is Not Bad At All And You Can Get Them In Gloss Black Which Is Cool. ******One Important Thing To Keep In Mind Is That You Might Have To Change Your Brake And Shifter Cables As They May No Longer Be long Enough After These Bars Are Installed. One Tip: Trim Your Rear Brake Cable For Use On Your front Brakes And Trim Your Rear Shifter Cable For Use On Your Front Derailleur And You Will Only Have To Purchase 2 New Cables! Good Luck!

    Good product. Clean look.

Easy to install & clean look (no letters/branding). Only negative is the weight—but that’s on me. I didn’t think to factor in materials weight. And obviously steel weighs more than aluminum alloy, so I wish I would’ve that to buy aluminum alloy bars instead of steel. But I still really like these. I’ve had them now for a few years and no issues at all.

Replace Cruiser Bike Bars With These.

These are good for a cruiser bicycle when your wrists get stressed from bending sideways using the typical beach-style half-moon bars, and your lower back or tail bone gets tired of sitting so far upright. These are just about the same width (28 inches) as the half-moons, and you can adjust them for some forward lean. These are a lot closer in style to the handlebars on a classic cruiser motorcycle.

    Game changer!

I have a Mongoose mountain bike. The low bars didn’t bother until about a year ago (getting old sucks). Well let me tell you, these bars have made riding enjoyable again. All the pressure and fatigue that I felt in my wrists and shoulders is completely gone. I would also get kinks in my neck with the original lower bars, also GONE! I can sit almost completely upright now. I wish I had purchased these years ago. I wouldn’t ride more than 6-8 miles with the stock mongoose bars. I’ve been going 14-18 miles now because I’m so much more comfortable.
