    Very fragile

Very, very weak. After just one ride (on the road, no less), the screws start coming loose. That is, all screws start coming loose, including the ones in the middle portion. For such a simple product, it has far too many parts. I will try locktite on everything and give it another try, but as it comes out of the box it’s completely unreliable. To absolutely avoid if you think this will stabilize you bag on a bikepacking trip.

Probably only meant for use with Topeak saddle bags

I tested this anti-sway device on my Specialized CRUX bike and with my non-Topeak branded saddle bag.First, the good:1. This device is small and lightweight. It feels like it’s mostly made of aluminum because it adds hardly any weight at all. When I go bikepacking, there’s already enough extra weight, so I’m not trying to add any more than I have to.2. Installation was straightforward. You use two screws to attach the bars into the base plate, and then you clamp the base plate onto the rails on the bottom of your saddle. It only takes a few minutes, and it’s not too complex.3. I love that you can put two water bottle holders on the outside of the bars! Since I use a frame bag, I’m always short on places to put water bottles. Adding space for bottles behind the seat is a great solution for me.Next, the negative:1. It didn’t eliminate sway. I had to really crank down on the bolts to prevent this device itself from jiggling around on the saddle rails. But even after doing that, I realized that there’s some play in the seatpost itself. And since my saddle bag is rather large, there’s still some sway where it reaches out past the stabilizing bars of this device.2. It’s designed for a narrow saddle bag. I think my saddle bag has normal proportions. Even so, it barely fits between the bars on this device. To get it to fit properly, I have to under-pack the bag where it meets the bike frame, which also means I have to pack more into the far end where the bag closes. If anything, that increases the amount of sway, since it means more weight is distributed away from the bike frame. In fairness, this device is obviously intended for the Topeak Backloader, so I should expect it’s an imperfect fit with other brands. Still, it’s a little disappointing.I would only recommend this if you’re planning to use it with the Topeak Backloader saddle bag. Hopefully it’s much more effective at reducing sway in that case.

    Sturdy rack

This is a sturdy rack that has a smart design. I don’t like that it is specific to Topeka’s very expensive saddle bags, though. For those, this works great.

I didn’t know I needed it until I got it.

I didn’t really think I needed this until I installed it.I am not a bikepacker, however, I also do not like warm/hot water. I used to ride with a camelbak type water bladder that I would fill with ice and water. I live in Coastal Georgia, where temps routinely climb into the mid-90s for almost a quarter of the year. The ice in the bladder would be gone in less than an hour of riding in 85+ degree weather. I use a Topeak BackLoader to carry my hydroflask filled with ice and water. I knew there was some sway because of the BackLoader, but I didn’t realize how much it affected my ride until I installed the Backloader wishbone.Installation is very easy as mentioned in other reviews. I usually wrap a towel around my hydroflask and put a small towel at the back of the bag to keep the bottle from moving around and adding even more sway to the bike. With the Wishbone it sway is no longer an issue. I have the 6L Backloader.I love that the Wishbone adds very little weight. The hydroflask with ice and water are heavy enough without having to add more weight to keep it stable. The build quality seems good, but I’ve only been on a couple bike rides with it.It seems a little pricey for what it is, but if it holds up, I think it will be worth it.

    Great Seat Bag Support

My Mongoose Juneau doesn’t have a rear bike rack, so I’ve been using a seat bag, and this stabilizer was exactly what I needed. It functions as intended and wasn’t hard to install–it really does cut down on the bag swaying when riding. Love it!

    Excellent

Worked great! was wide enough for my travel bag

    Works as expected!

Used mostly to carry two extra bottles of water. Does perfectly the job! Also very useful to stabilize a saddle bag (I used Apidura 17L saddle bag and works perfectly fine)

    Gewinde mangelhaft

Wirkt erst einmal robust, aber die mitgelieferten Schrauben gehen nur wiederwillig, bzw in die für Getränkehalter vorgesehenen Gewinde nicht rein.

Worked well and easy to install.

Easy to install. Easily removable when installed under the seat if you do not want to carry a pack. I added two water bottle holders and it they work fine. I did not care for the location for a strap for a tail light since it pointed toward the ground. I added several pieces of PVC pipe joined to thin aluminum and mounted under the bottle holders to mount several tail lights (painted black to match). No sway issues with the bag when loaded with gear and several full water bottles.

    Probably not worth the weight

This product does indeed do what it claims…it adds stabilizing structure to the Topeak Backloader bag to reduce movement. However, I am not sure how much I agree with the whole concept…if you have so much weight that it’s swaying and causing you issues, then that weight probably shouldn’t be in a giant tail bag…put it down in your panniers or fork packs. It seems like you’ll likely have better ways to apply the $45 and 178g to your bikepacking setup, but if this is exactly what you need, then it definitely does what it says.
