There is no reason to purchase the entire assembly for this product. The shoes are all you need to replace your brakes. Be aware that you will need to adjust the alignment of the shoes onto the wheel rims… If you don’t, you will likely get “groaning” noises at high speeds. Loosen the brake shoe assembly on both sides of the wheel and apply the brakes (after replacing the shoes). Then, tighten the assemblies while the brakes are applied. You’re good to go.

Haven’t had a chance to test these in the wet but on a dry day…I nearly went over the handle bars!I had some Forte branded pads from Performance Bicycle before these on my bike and they stopped well enough but never with much authority. After a near accident with a car, I decided that it was time to upgrade and these R55C3 compound pads had the right mix of reviews and price for me to take the jump.Install was simple enough, remove the wheels, remove the single screw holding the pads and slide them out. Do the reverse to install and go on a test ride. Just be gentle on the brakes…these grip!I haven’t had any issues yet, no noise or excessive wear. Definitely will recommend these to people who want awesome stopping power.

Just like factory-fresh, and easy to install
These brake shoes/pads work on Shimano Dura-Ace, Integra, and 105 brakes. The installation is a snap. You just unscrew one bolt from the cartridge that holds the brake shoes, and the old shoe slides out and the new new one slides in. I did have to remove my front wheel to replace the shoes for the front brake. You’ll need a metric allen wrench to screw in the new bolts – they already have lock-tite on them so they won’t come loose. You can get a metric allen wrench set on Amazon if you don’t already have one (which you should if you’re working on a bike these days). When installing these pads I didn’t need to make any adjustments to my brakes other than to move the cable adjusting knob to back the original position.If you need something to refer to, Shimano has the mechanical drawings on their website. You probably won’t need them, but the drawings do show that these shoes are the ones specified for quite a few of their brakes – including my BR-5700 (Shimano 105) caliper brakes.As far as I can tell, the shoes are exactly like the ones that came with my bike when it was new. The braking seems just as solid as when I bought my bike. I rode more than 5,000 miles and climbed (and descended) more than 400,000 vertical feet on my previous set of brake shoes. And I’m looking forward to having similar, great performance with this new set.
