Shifting “feels” just like the original. but gear dial harder to read.
I took a tumble on my bike and broke the left shifter. Shimano stopped manufacturing the model I used about 15 years ago, so I called them and asked for the nearest equivalent. The replacement came overnight. Since I’d rather not have to adjust all the gear settings, I had the local bike shop do the replacement (also overnight). It works just fine, with the levers exactly where the ones were on my old unit. However, there’s one annoying feature. The dials are less readable than on the old unit. Instead of having the numbers move as you shift, the numbers (much smaller than before) stay put, and a slanted red line moves to show the selected gear. Much less clear than the original equipment, but adequate. As always, top quality from Shimano.

I accidentally broke my husband’s brakes and shifters removing them to replace his handlebars… But they were like 30 years old in my defense so I think it was time. I watched a YouTube video and easily installed these. Pay close attention to the tubes when you install them I accidentally made them too short because I didn’t account for turning and had to electric tape some more length. Ooops!

Quality Shifters and Cables
I used this kit to replaced the original shifters and cables on my Trek 7.2FX that is 10 years old as of 2023.The kit includes good quality cables and housings for both the front and rear brakes and the front and rear derailluers.If you have to cut sections of outer cables our housings make sure you have quality cable cutters (not wire cutters). The kit does not include cable cutters.Happy to say that my bike is shifting perfectly now. The shifter action is easy on my thumbs and fingers, and the gear indicator is easy to read. The Good kit for 24 speed bikes.
