Great derailleur
This is a great derailleur. It was easy to install and easy to set up prior to riding. The install involves making sure you properly place a metal tab to avoid damaging your frame. That part isn’t clear in the instructions, and it turns out was unnecessary on my install due to the placement of the clamp. It is super quiet and does its job unobtrusively. I keep asking myself why it took so long for me to upgrade to Di2.

Seller with a bad attitude.
Schimano Di2 FD8050 works as expected. It was in soft bubble pack envelope rather than a box and had been crushed in transit. I suggested out this product in a box. It is an electronic component that is not cheap.was a miracle derailleur wasn’t damaged.Seller copped an attitude.A much better seller is Competitive Cyclist who I have bought from in past. Competitive Cyclist also has good quick technical help. They were out of this part so took a chance with this seller. While I got lucky and damaged UPS envelope and crushed Shimano box didn’t result in a damaged part, that was pure luck. I won’t take that chance again.

Good concept but closed/propietary system
I just lost the integration from the Di2 drive train to my Hammer Head head unit because Shimano, unilaterally, revoked the license to that company to use the private network.I’ll move to SRAM wireless system Rival or Force.

It Survived the Flimsy Packaging!
This was ordered to replace a worn out FD-8050 Ultegra Di2 front derailleur. It’s a known item, and just a straight re-buy. As a product, it has performed well under tough conditions.I was pleased that it shipped via courier, as USPS has underperformed in my area.I recommend a more secure and robust packaging than the uninsulated brown paper sack though. You can see the results in the attached photo.
