Okay chain, shoddy lock
With the new trash laws in NYC I need to lock my cans to a signpost because of widespread theft and bought two chain and lock sets, one for the trash can and one for the recycling can. The hardened chains resist bolt cutters and are just what I need but the locks leave much to be desired. All the keys for both locks fit each lock and I wonder if every lock they sell is keyed the same. The problem, noted elsewhere, that the key can only be removed when the shackle is engaged makes using the locks inconvenient — and worse when struggling with two locks’ mechanisms on a lonely nighttime street takes attention away from staying safe. The keys fit sloppily in the keyways, which are themselves loose, and lots of jiggling to get them to work. When I got the locks, they had razor-sharp burrs along many edges and needed to be filed down. I’ve since replaced them with Master padlocks and can’t imagine the original locks having any worthwhile use. Wonder if they sell the chains separately…

Rusts quickly, spray some WD40 in this before using outside. Otherwise decent and fun. Can be easily lock picked by someone with sense

I’m pleased with this! The chain is substantial! I had a bike stolen with a lesser “wire” type that was easily cut. I never knew. This chain appears strong. The lock good. I wish the chain were a tad longer but it’s good.
