Super great metal tube cutting device
This thing worked super great! I was skeptical since it seemed to be a cheap and easy way to get around having to hacksaw my steerer tube, but it worked really well… 3 times on the same cutting wheel/disc. The fact that it was strong enough to effortlessly cut thru three rockshox mtb forks tells me that it exceeded my specs. since I have many other replacement discs, means I can be confident that I have room to err on the side of caution. Also, the tool tracked very well. I didn’t have any issues with the disc wandering from the initial cut. I may not need to use this often, but I’m glad I bought the right one for the right price.

Absolutely works!! Cut my bars n 3 min without having to remove it from the bike and going through all the set ups. Very affordable and quality is perfect. Highly recommended if your looking to cut down your bars.

I did a pretty easy test with these. I cut pvc pipe and I’ll be straight up. These didn’t perform great. I tried them straight out of the package. I think this should have been a an easy test. This kept spitting out the pipe and you really had to dial down the cut making careful adjustments to maintain your cut in order for it not to kick it out.That being said it did cut the pipe 2 x. Cut it clean but I have used a better pipe cutter.I’m not sure how well these will cut metal I will try some copper pipe. They did come with extra blades which is a little strange as my pipe cutter I have is like 20 years old and is still cutting like a champ on its original cutting wheel.If you purchase these do your starter score. Dial down bit by bit until it’s holding line well. Continue your cut dialling down with little increments. I think I might have been a bit aggressive as it was what I was used to with my old one.It’s pretty and shiny. But a bit awkward in the hand. It does open quite large. Maybe just go at it a bit slower and they will get the job done.

Fantastic tool and made light work of cutting down my aluminum MTB handlebars. This tool makes a very clean cut. It comes with extra cutting discs, but after two cuts the original disc is still sharp and should be able to do a few more sets of bars, etc. This tool was well worth the money and IMO a cleaner and better than the jig and hacksaw method. Very happy with product, highly recommend.

Not for cutting carbon fiber
I got this because I needed to cut a carbon handlebar and this said it did. I figured it would do a good clean cut just like when I use one to cut a pipe. Then I started to think about it again and did more research. The consensus is that you should use a hacksaw blade instead because it cuts and cleans away the debris with a light touche. The way a tube cutter works is you tighten it up with lots of pressure ant it’s the pressure that cuts away the material. Not a good solution as we all know how too much pressure can destroy carbon fiber parts if they are tightened too much. That is why I am removing 1 star. As far as quality, it seems fine. A little rougher casting then a more expensive one. The cutter wheels are nice as you get so many. I will use it on an aluminum handlebar in the future. I gave it 4 because other then the fact it shouldn’t cut carbon, it will work just fine on your aluminum parts.

I wouldn’t say this is industrial quality but for the price it’s very good. + it came with 5 replacement cutter wheels. It’ll likely out live me!

Ive cut quite a few handle bars, steerer tubes, seat posts. And I just now had to replace the blade because it started cutting uneven. But lots works great!
