Works, but….
I used this to clean the chain on a mountain bike that has been sitting for a while. This device worked and made cleaning the chain a bit easier. Using it was pretty straightforward, no issues there. It’s made of relatively sturdy plastic and the brushes are also decent quality.However… As others have stated, I don’t think it’s really worth the price that they’re charging for it. For someone like me who infrequently cleans their chains (we are VERY casual bike people), the price that they’re charging isn’t, IMO, worth the money.Overall… I could see it making your life easier if you are an avid biker. But it IS very pricey for what you get… a plastic scoop with 3 brushes attached to it.

Works well but not worth the price. I see it is discounted now to about $20 and that is much more reasonable than the original price. It came with no instructions or link to any instructions. Other people’s reviews are the best directions for this device.

Pros:The soak action design is much less messy than the spray-and-scrub method.No assembly required—it’s ready to use right out of the box.Effectively removes old grease and grime in just a few minutes.The build quality of the plastic housing feels durable enough for regular use. It’s a practical tool that actually makes a tedious maintenance job a bit faster.Cons:Doesn’t come with very detailed instructions, though it’s fairly intuitive. I’ve used quite a few different chain cleaners, and this one is definitely one of the easier ones to manage.

Works well, and helps contain the mess
I’ve had several different bicycle chain cleaning devices and products, and this one is the probably the easiest one to use that I’ve found. Just put your favorite cleaning solution in the reservoir, shift the bike into a gear that makes it easy to put the chain in the device, and move the pedal backwards. You choose the speed to go. I personally prefer slower so it doesn’t sling liquid all over. The plastic seems to be sturdy enough to handle many cleanings, but I don’t know how durable the brushes are. When I initially got this cleaner, it had a $50 price tag. Way too high in my opinion. Today it is listed on Amazon for $20, a MUCH more reasonable price. With new brushes, it’s very effective at getting the road grime off the chain. We shall see how well it works after many uses.

A little less effective, but way more convenient
This is a bit less effective than the more complicated chain cleaners that attach to the chain, but the speed with which you can clean a chain more than makes up for that. I’ve probably cleaned my chain more times in the past couple months that l than I had in years prior just because this is so much more convenient to use.One thing you have to keep in mind is that how you hold the thing has a huge effect on the cleaning power of the device. Vary the angles and put a little extra pressure to close the gap between this and pro cleaners. You can also throw a dry rag in it around the brush area after rinsing to accelerate drying if you’re looking to lubricate the chain and ride right after cleaning.

Not revolutionary and not as effective as chain cleaners with lid
Cleaning chains is a nuisance and I thought this cleaner would make it easier. Instead, it’s an overpriced piece of plastic. When I ordered it through the vine program, it was $50. I just checked and the price has gone down to $20. If it worked better than the national bike tool brand that has a lid and has more than one scrub brush, I’d probably recommend it.As designed, it’s not very effective. Each link is in solution for a second so you have run your chain through it many more times. When I first saw this cleaner, I thought since the jockey wheel was in solution, it would get clean too, but since it doesn’t touch any brushes, it doesn’t. Also it’s not that easy to use from the standpoint that since there’s no cover, it needs to be held at a precise angle to prevent your solution from splashing out.It seems to work on various bike types – I used it on my road and gravel bike without a problem. I assume it’d be fine for a mountain or fat tire bike.On the plus side, 1) the plastic isn’t rigid/brittle so if you drop it, it won’t crack, 2) the handle is permanently attached so there’s one less part to find, and 3) the bright orange color makes it easier to find in my bike tool cupboard.

Quick, simple, mess free bicycle chain cleaning.
This device caught my eye as a way to clean my bicycle chain without removing it, or taking it into the dealer. I used Dawn dish detergent as the solvent to remove the grit and grease, but there are other solvents available. It did not come with instructions, other than what is included on Amazon, but it is pretty simple to use. It also came with one replacement brush.Here are the steps I took to clean my chain:1. I cleaned the all the gear wheels with a brush and Dawn.2. I added Dawn to the cleaning tool to a level just under the brushes.3. I slowly cranked the pedals to coat the chain and tilted the cleaning tool to not go through the brushes as much.4. Then I tilted the tool so the chain hit the brushes and spun the pedals a bit faster.5. Rinsed the chain and gears with water and wiped with a rag.6. Allowed to dry.7. Applied fresh chain lube.I am very happy with the results. As you can see from my before and after pics (excuse the bubbles from the Dawn) it did a good job of removing excess grease and debris. It is a quick and simple process which did not create any mess. Now that I have this I will be cleaning my chain more often to extend its life.
