The Race Face Chester Pedal is a lightweight composite platform pedal ideal for riders looking for a budget-oriented flat pedal. Made with a lightweight nylon composite, the Chester Pedal is durable and lightweight and doesn't hurt nearly as bad when we flip it into our shins compared to aluminum pedals. Nine replaceable pins per side, plus two molded plastic pins, keep our feet locked down, while the large 115 x 110mm platform ensures stability for riders with larger shoe sizes.

The new Chesters are excellent!
I’ve now put a little over 500 miles on the newly designed Raceface Chester pedals (size large), all on fast flowy trails. Gotta say, they’ve been great! Here are my observations: First, the foot feels very comfortable and secure resting on the pedals’ concave platform. The concavity is slight but immediately noticeable. The foot feels locked in but is still easy enough to reposition. Second, regarding what Raceface describes as the pedals’ reduced “Q-factor”, the pedals don’t have wrench flats and sit a little more inboard than they would otherwise. I was unsure what this would mean in practical terms, but the first couple rides on the new Chesters revealed that I had developed a very slightly outward bow with my knees at a certain point in the pedal stroke when using my former pedals. I was pleased to discover the more efficient stroke and easily adapted. Third, the pedal pins have a smart design. The body of the pin is threaded, but not the tip. This means the pins still grip the sole of the shoe fine, but won’t gouge shins and calves. Nice! And it’s nice not having to use a pedal wrench to install/remove these pedals.Lastly, these new style Chester have been out for more than a year now. I’m not sure why they haven’t made a bigger splash in the MTB community. Raceface obviously put a lot of thought into them. (BTW, the new Chesters appear to be very similar in design to the well-reviewed Wolftooth Waveform). Anyway, before buying, I looked closely at some of the other top brands’ composite pedals. There are plenty of choices out there, but I’m very glad I went with these. I don’t think you can go wrong with them. The new Raceface Chesters are an excellent pedal!

Awesome large pedals!
Great pedals if you’re looking for large! Very light for their size, no annoying spindle bump so they are very comfortable and fit my size 11 shoe easily. Only drawback is the pins. If you want to lower the pins they flop in the holes so get some 3mm spacers to keep them tight. Otherwise, the tops of the pins aren’t so sharp but they hold your shoe well without massive shin gouge.
