Solid, well built little handle
This tool has one use: it’s a tap handle for cutting new threads in a stripped bolt hole. It’s well machined and built, and it works great. The only caveat is that you should take the maximum listed size seriously. It says that it fits up to M12 taps and that’s correct. But it won’t go any larger than that. But it’s a stout, simple, well made tool that works exactly as it should.

Defective jaw on an otherwise nicely done tool at a great price
I picked up this model after purchasing the smaller one. I’ll just copy that review below since pretty much all of it applies to both models (and both items I received). I was quite pleased with the smaller one but a little less so with this one because it required quite a bit more cleanup and it still had the issue with the moveable jaw. Unless that’s a design feature that I don’t understand, Park needs to get with their factory to sort that out and get the moveable jaws up to snuff. All in all these are nice tools well worth the purchase and they fill an appreciated niche in the market these days. Copypasta as follows:I have a ton of Park tools but I got this tap wrench for general use (in all my years of bike work I have never had to tap threads on anything…fingers crossed). This is really a bargain on a nicely made tool and these days it’s more difficult to find actually good straight tap wrenches that either are not made with zinc cast parts or do not cost a bunch of money for something like a Starrett or other machinist brands. I contacted Park beforehand to inquire about actual length and materials and all I got out of the rep was that they are made in Taiwan (not a bad thing) and that the jaws were ground steel, but he didn’t know if the body was or not. Well, both body and jaws are ground steel – great!! Unfortunately the movable jaw on mine was a total defect but rather than return it I was able to fix the inner portion of the vee and the outer edges are inconsequential especially for smaller tap sizes like this is made for. The jaws on this are an unconventional design where the moveable has female threads – no doubt for simplicity and cost savings although it introduces chance for error and less strength (maybe more important on the larger model they offer). The movable handle does retain the usual right hand/left hand threading for quick jaw movement. The fixed jaw only engages with the handle threads by about one and a half turns, which is not confidence inspiring. Overall extended length is about 7-1/2 inches. I only had to remove some very minimal burs on the body to get it to work nice and smooth. Small annoyance is that the brand/model etching is upside down (most people put the moveable on the right side and when held that way with this tool the lettering is upside down…no big deal). Other than needing to correct the defect in the one jaw, I’m quite pleased with being able to still get a less expensive real-steel tap wrench and would highly recommend it. I would have gotten the larger model as well if the handles on it were a bit longer but I think it’s too short for comfortable use for my needs (fine for bike work though even with the larger tap sizes that it will accept). Not sure how I feel about the Park rep not knowing his own product or taking the time to find the answer for me before replying – sign of the times maybe.

High quality tool. Excellent tap holder for any job, bicycle related or other. For those who are tapping 9/16″ x 20 on cranks for peddles these will have the clearance for the taps. Most store bought generics are poor quality and only go up to 1/2″ which is too small. I know because I went to 3 stores looking for one. That was a waste of time.

Nice quality basic tap handle
Used mostly for M6 taps. Also used it to turn an M8 roll tap which required a lot of torque. It held up just fine. Seems like a good quality tool and a fair price.

I like!
I was trying to tap M8 threads with a tap handle with the 4-finger-chuck clamping style, and it wasn’t going well. Got this shipped super fast and it works so much better! I can apply way more torque, and I actually broke a M8 tap because of that, getting it out was fun! Also, alignment is decently easy to achieve with this handle, but it might be more difficult when tapping smaller holes, as the handle becomes heavier relatively.

got this a couple days ago after the one that came with the tap set i got from harbor freight broke on the first hole i was tapping. This is great well constructed and you are able to put a good amount of pressure on it to tighten it up on the tap. I didn’t have a lot of trouble with it cumming loose at all. Only thing that that is not right is in the description the measurements on the one i got is in no way the same as the description it measures 9″ x 1″ x 1/2″ not the 6x2x2 and if you look there is a difference in weight i’m pretty sure its the shipping weight not the description weight. Also in the picture the handles look like there 6 or 8 sided witch would allow you to put a wrench on them to tighten it but mine is just round and the plastic covers go the length of the handle so once again this is still a well built great product just don’t go by the description
