I looked at this device in the Amazon catalog for several months wondering if I really needed it. It’s so easy to accumulate “really neat tools” that somehow are never used. Usually I just run a strip of Velcro around the main tube and the front wheel and that keeps the handle bars out of my way when working on the bike. Well, that works well enough but what if you’ve removed the front wheel? Ooops! So, in a rash moment I added this Park handle bar holder to an order for an item I **really** needed. When the handle bar holder arrived I remember saying to myself, “Self, you’re never going to use this.” WRONG! A couple of weeks ago I had the bike up on the workstand and thought I’d see just how it worked. Okay, it worked pretty well. It was easy to put in place. I liked the solid plastic covering on the device which would protect my bike’s paint and metal surfaces. I worked on the bike. I removed the front wheel. The handle bars did not flop around! Pretty cool! Now, whenever I put the bike on the repair stand I just automatically Velcro this handlebar holder in place–takes 10 seconds–and the handle bars stay where they should stay. It turns out this is one “really neat tool” that has become indispensable to me. Who would have thought such a simple device could be so useful?

Worth a shot and better then trying to build one
I am very frugal and I usually just tie my front wheel off with a Velcro strap to the downtube on the bike . However it moves and has slop. I have tried making these with coat hangers and they didn’t hold up well when the bikes were on a rack and your hitting pavement cracks on the hiway at 65 mph . I bought this and it is much better but sadly my busy bars require it be sprug out to fasten on . However that’s my fault I have baskets on both my bikes and the mounting brackets interfere as well as cables . I can get it on but it takes allot of effort . So not perfect in my case but very good and I do not feel it was a waste of money . The Velcro attached so you never loose it is a nice touch . Makes bikes where rear wheel stands or even kickstands where heavy baskets and a turned wheel result in a tip over a thing of the past in most cases .My advice is if it looks like it will work it will and forget about making one get this It is more solid that anything you can make and doesn’t scratch the bike . That comes from a very frugal man . Oh and take a extra piece of Velcro and put it through your spokes around the fork to keep your wheel from spinning while on a bike rack even though just keeping the wheel straight will protect the other bikes . Make sure you use the Velcro to hold it on too and maybe even another piece because it can pop off and who wants to loose $20 . Took one star off because it doesn’t fit all bikes well and you can’t tell until you get it home if it works on yours . I believe it will fit most it is a tad short and if you have your bars up high the angle can cause it to not be as firm in fastening . Take care .

Price might push some people away. Simply put you could build something that does this. However this does it’s just just as intended and I’m not worried about any harm to my bike. Everything sets in place and until I had one, I had no idea how much it would help me while I’m working on my bike. This has the same quality as the rest of Park Tools gadgets! I’d recommend it, and would buy it again if need be.

I ordered this item 30 years late, given that it works as advertised, like nearly all Park Tool items. I have been working on my own bikes using an older Park Tool stand for quite a while now, and always just dealt with the flopping around front end. I always saw this in the catalogs, but passed on it, thinking it a wasteful purchase. On a whim, I decided to use some card proceeds to finally purchase one. Glad I finally did, as it certainly makes bike maintenance a lot less aggravating. Not particularly difficult to use, so I found the simple instructions amusing (yes, a male that reads the manuals!). It appears made in the USA, which I’m glad to see Park Tools still does (although not all their tools from what I read). Recommended.

$20 bucks to eliminate headaches and speed up working on your bike
Used it once at it was phenomenal. Was installing new brake cables on a vintage bicycle, and having the handle bars not move was awesome. You have three options when working on a bicycle, make your own tool, which probably could be done, but for $20 bucks you have a solid lifelong tool. You could make sure you always fix your bike with a buddy. Or you could buy a 6 pack of beer and deal with trying to steady the wheel while you work. I commute by bike, and I work on my own bike, would gladly pay double for this tool. It’s easy, saves me from headaches trying to steady the front tire, and is easy to put on and take off. 5/5

Perfetto per la manutenzione.
Se vi piace fare da voi la manutenzione delle vostre bici questo attrezzo fa al caso vostro. Spesso si riesce a trovare il giusto equilibro e il manubrio non si sposta, però su alcuni modelli o se dovete intervenire sulla ruota anteriore vi consiglio di usarlo. Davvero un ottimo accessorio.

Ample rubber covers the entire surface nearly eliminating the possibility of marring the bicycle you are working on our transporting. The Velcro belt makes confident installation and removal unassailably idiot proof.There’s room for innovation on this accessory, but embellishment yields cost increases and this is nominally inexpensive for a tool, so I respect the manufacturers decision to remand its scope to single usage.

Sehr guter Halter!
Ich hatte mir den Halter von Parktool und den von Bicisupport bestellt. Verwendung ist einmal die ursprünglich angedachte, aber auch andersrum bzw. von unten: wenn das Rad im Montageständer hängt und die Gabel ausgebaut ist, liegt der Lenker mit seinen ganzen Zügen im Halter.Ich wollte ursprünglich beide behalten in dem Gedanken, dass es ja auch unterschiedliche Rahmen / Lenker etc. gibt und wohl mal der eine, mal der andere besser passen sollte.Nachdem ich beide genauer angeschaut und mal probeweise angehalten hatte, habe ich aber den Bicisupport wieder zurückgeschickt. Die Biegungen für Rahmen und Lenker sind hier relativ weit und rund, sodass der Lenker in der Regel nur einen Kontaktpunkt pro Biegung hat. Das Vorderrad lässt sich so zwar nicht mehr voll einschlagen, Lenker bzw. Vorderrad haben aber auch mit einem Fixierband ähnlich wie beim Parktool noch recht viel Bewegungsfreiheit hin- und her. Letzterer macht das deutlich besser: die Biegungen sind eher V-förmig. Der Lenker wird also zwischen zwei Kontaktpunkten pro Biegung „geklemmt.“ Dadurch wird das ganze Konstrukt deutlich steifer und zusammen mit dem elastischen Klettband wackelt da kaum noch was. Gefällt mir wesentlich besser.Sollte ich künftig einen zweiten benötigen, werde ich noch einen Parktool nehmen.

Not for aero bars
Simple enough idea, but doesn’t fit aero bars very well, and it doesn’t work well when your bike is in a stand if you’re using a stand clamp like the Silca Hirobel. The old bungee cord trick you see probably works better in most cases.

Works well and does exactly what you expect it to do.
Works very well and the velcro strap makes sure it stays in place and does what it is expected to do. Holds the handlebars and keeps the front wheel straight when you have your bike off the ground and on a maintenance stand. The unit is a little bit pricey for what it is, but it comes with that Park Tool legendary quality and you will only ever have to buy it once.

Works well on round bars. Not so good on aero bars.
