    One flaw

The dummy pedal works as intended. Great for working on the drivetrain without having to thread in the pedal. The only flaw I have quickly discovered is that there are only about 3 threads on the shaft (as can be seen in the photo). And 2 of the first 4 bikes I worked on the female threads in the crank arm were slightly recessed so that the male threads on the dummy pedal never reach the female threads in the crank arm. A few more threads on the dummy pedal would have been so easy and would have made this a 5 star product.

    Do you enjoy having fingers???

If you are a bicycle mechanic and you like having fingers then you should probably invest in one of these. They are not a necessity in the shop, but they are extremely handy when you don’t have pedals on the bike you’re working on. I’ve seen so many other mechanics with twisted digits because the end of their finger got caught in between the chain and the chainring and *YYyyyyeeeoooOoOOUCH!!!* The price isn’t outrageous. It is very handy. The only thing that could make this better is to have the threaded part made of metal instead of plastic. Save your fingers!

    Poor quality.

Park Tool’s are the defacto bicycle mechanic tools to have. This product extremely disappointed me. I thread it into the crank to tune up one of my bikes as usual, however it kept unthreading when rotating the crank. So I tightened further and the threads stripped instantly, without effort. Great idea, but I’d like to see some machined threads and I will buy again because this tool is wicked convenient.

  4. Woooooooohooooooooo

This is a Good idea. Very Helpful.

THis is a great tool to have if you work in a shop and for the price, its great. My gripe is with another product that is exactly the same as this one. ENDURO Dummy Pedal, please look this up. This thing is 100 USD and the only difference is that it is completely made out of metal. This just really bothered me and i had to vent, thanks for reading though. Please buy this Park Tool product because everything they make is awesome, useful and well made.

    Useful tool

Makes it easier to adjust deraillers on bike builds where pedals are not installed yet.

    Park Tools Rule!!

Excellent tool to fit in when no pedals fitted during servicing. Nice positive, short thread licks it into place nicely. Once fitted it is very comfortable to use. Bought it because I was fed up of being bitten by chains and chinring teeth.Brilliant idea simply executed.Park tool make superb bike tools, they are worth every penny. Too many cheap imitations now in the bin.

You think you don’t need this, but after using you’ll realize the benefit

I love this Park Tool goodie. Much like their dummy hub, you don’t realize you need it until you’ve used it. I’m an intermediate level bike mechanic and have a well appointed bike repair workshop in my basement. I always remove the left pedal so it isn’t banging against the work stand (also Park), but until I found this I always kept the right pedal (drivetrain side) on so I can shift to test derailleurs, move the chain for cleaning, etc. When you work on bikes regularly this comes in very handy – some pedals are jagged, have cages on them, etc., and this item reduces stress on your hands and improves the grip. I used mine so much that I eventually stripped the threads on it, but part of that can also be attributed to me using too much torque as I threaded it on the crank. I was able to replace just that part through Park Tool’s website. If you are or know a bike wrench who is hard to buy for consider this. It’s inexpensive and very useful.

    Saved me allot of headache!

I used this Park Tool dummy pedal for my bicycle when I needed to replace the cassette on the rear wheel, then had to re-adjust the rear derailleur. As I was shifting the gears back and forth, the dummy pedal simply works way better than trying to turn the actual bicycle pedal by hand. Park Tool does it again!

    Gearing up.

Ideal wee tool for setting up the gears on new builds that have no pedals fitted yet.

    Great tool to have!

This tool is great for maintenance and messing with your shifting.

Wish I had this years ago!

A ‘must have’ even if just adjusting shifting. A ‘can’t live without’ if replacing shifter cable and adjusting limit screws and indexing. Some pedals have sharp pins and others you could end up putting your finger through while cranking.
