Cable ends that are inexpensive but work so well!
This little piece of hardware was an amazing discovery for me! Until now I was using crimp cable ends on bikes and other cable operated “things”. Unfortunately, the crimp ends are just not made to withstand much stress so they pull loose or just don’t last long. Specifically, our Jeep Wrangler has lever/cable operated seat backs which are notorious for failing, making it impossible to slide the seat or adjust the back. Chrysler is happy to sell us a new cable for $120 (that looks an awful lot like a $5 Walmart bicycle brake cable). With these cable ends, when the seat cable fails I can remove the old broken/stretched cable and buy the $5 replacement cable from the store and make a perfect length cable. I also used one of these cable ends to repair a cable release that broke on our recliner. These are so cheap I now just keep a few spares in my toolbox. These even came with an allen wrench that is the perfect size for the set screw that holds the cable tight. Happy me when something so cheap works so well!

Great for Classic Raleigh Calipers
This is all that is needed if you want new brake cables for a classic Raleigh. For those who don’t know, up till the ’70s, Raleigh brakes used fixed-length cables with metal slugs at each end that hooked into the lever and the caliper. The cables did not bolt onto the caliper. These were extremely strong but are impossible to find replacements for these days. However, cables don’t last forever so I was told to get these for my ’58 Raleigh Sports and they work great. A little finnicky to set up but just because the calipers are under tension, but they seem to grip the cable very well and sit securely on the old caliper. Attached pictures show the old cable and new cables with the knarp.
