Good Inexpensive Pedal Upgrade from Plastic Pedals – But Not Flat

I installed these on my eBike that came with VERY cheap plastic pedals. These are a really nice affordable option to have something that isn’t as cheap and has some grip. The pedals are very thin but have pegs that protrude making most shoes fairly grippy on the pedal. I installed with a pedal wrench but they also have an allen key ability for install. Black gloss is nice and blends well with most bikes. Overall a nice pedal for regular street use but not sure I would want for MTB.UPDATE: I noticed the spindle protrudes more than the edges of the pedals. So if you happen to be using them with a soft bottom (like a flip-flip or Croc) you an really feel the spindle through the pedal.

Works ok, but not much of an upgrade of basic pedals.

I grabbed these, wanting to get a more aggressive pedal on my ebike, as the basic pedals it came with were just not large or aggressive enough on the grip front. Unfortunately, these didn’t really solve either of those issues. Size wise, they ended up being a touch larger, but the non-removable pins were the real disappointment. It seems like the whole pedals was powder coated, but that means the pins don’t really grip all that much, and in fact, the pedal feels slick under my foot. I’m also wary that the axle doesn’t go all the way through the pedal, and am not sure how long they’ll hold up. They came a bit stiff, which is to be expected (until the grease works its way in a bit), and they feel solid enough, but for what I was looking for, they just aren’t the right tool for the job.
