A decent deterrent
This is a decent lock that will deter your average lazy no-good thieving scoundrel opportunists. A dedicated bike thief could probably find its weakness. The percentages are in your favor with this lock.The lock is light enough to not make it a heavy burden like some chain locks.I was unable to find a place on my electric bike to use the mounting bracket that comes with the lock, but I just put it in my kit to fix flats and such that gets carried on my rear rack.The lock locks and unlocks smoothly and so far it has kept the bike safe. 👍👍👍👍

Pretty much unusable for me. I’ve never fought with a lock this much. You really need 3 hands to attach. Key gets stuck. Now it seems that the latch on the U part are frozen. Would not buy, again.

Decent bike lock but better suited for an adult bike.
This u-lock is an ideal choice for any cyclist, student, or for someone who parks their bike in high-risk areas. I got this for my grandson (since he has two bikes). His bike was tampered with one day while he was at school. It is a little big for his BMX bike but we got it to mount. Since it was a little tricky to put on that bike we will probably move it to his mountain bike (which it is better suited for). The lock itself is “heavy duty” and is close to the same weight as his cable or chain locks, but I think it will be much harder to tamper with and should resist any cutting or prying. The lock feels solid and secure, and the key opens it smoothly and doesn’t stick. I think you will be satisfied with this lock if you purchase it.

A strong visual deterrent, that’s easy to use
My beef with this is the crossbar that contains the locking mechanism is built cheaply. Imagine like a piece of sheet steel rolled into a cylinder, and covered in plastic. Its thinner metal for the crossbar piece. Combine with that this is a single-locking system; the U-bar has tabs that simply hook and pivot into the crossbar on one side, and the key then locks only the opposite side.I feel like the side that doesn’t lock is very vulnerable. It rattles straight out the package from a loose connection. I foresee one of two things happening. If you use this for a while eventually the non-locking side will wear the slot it slips into more open and eventually it will just casually come unlocked because of the loose connection. Or a thief could prolly easily force this lock open by just hitting it really hard.I prefer the extra security of a double deadbolt lock, which secures the U-bar at both ends when you turn the key. A single-locking design like this is seems more vulnerable. I’d only recommend this lock for low-risk areas or quick stops.Its easy to use? Like sometimes you can struggle to close a double deadbolt and have to tap it and twist the key a few times. This lock is a few seconds quicker to utilize.
