Solidly Performing Rack for Difficult Front Forks
I decided to convert a Kona steel mountain bike that my kids had used into a touring bike. The conversion generally went well, other than a rack for the front fork. I just could not get a rack to work with the front fork. My Tubus Tara would not mount, almost nothing would mount. I had a Blackburn rack and it mounted but was not solid enough.Enter the FRP-3000. The Minoura rack can accommodate a wide fork, and it does not need braizons. The rack mounts solidly to the brake boss and the wheel axle, and no wiggling by the load. Think Old Man Mountain, at a 3rd of the price. The rack is a little heavy, but it is static weight, and really solid which is especially needed in a front rack. This is a good rack and gets my seal of approval.Minoura says the rack is only for linear pull (AKA V brakes), but I had no problems mounting to a center pull brake.The vendor shipped promptly, and the rack arrived undamaged.

Great front rack for many fork types, but missing a piece
The good: It’s held up for over 5,000 miles of heavy use with a lot of weight without any problems. It’s very stable, even under load. It’s easy to mount (although I think it will only work with cantilever brakes, look carefully at the picture before buying). This is a great rack if you don’t have mounting brackets on your front fork. I am starting to notice minor corrosion where I’ve banged it against the ground a few times at the base, but I don’t think it’s compromising the structure integrity yet.The bad: It’s not that light.The awful: It showed up without a skewer, which it was supposed to come with. It took me two weeks of hunting around bike shops before I could find someone who carried a specialty skewer long enough to fit through both the hub and the rack fittings. I think it must have fallen out of the shoddy packaging. Hopefully this was a one-off mistake.

This rack is very heavy and it sounds like there is actually sand inside the tubing, which I don’t see the purpose of. However, it installed easily on a bike that I’d had a hard time fitting any other front rack to, and it can hold a LOT of weight without budging.

Rack looks sturdy but packaging was extremely loose and unprofessional. Came with missing parts. No axle and no brake mounts as described.

Excellent Front Rack
Think of Old Man Mountain quality (or better) at 1/3 the price. All steel construction, so if you somehow manage to break it, just about anyone can weld it to fix it. I love the through axle design. I have disk brakes and a rigid fork, so the included attachments for the upper fork did not work. It is rated for 22 lbs total (5 Kgs each side), but I would have no concerns with double that weight. The rack is that sturdy.

Extremely Sturdy, Stable, and Solid – (Still) Made in Japan
When unpacking the rack, I was first concerned with the weight and heftiness of it. For bicycle touring and bikepacking this obviously matters significantly. That said, the sheer sturdiness and the level of quality and finishing made it immediately clear why the price of this rack appears more than double of those flimsy rear mounting racks. I used this rack to load about 10 pounds on each side with panniers (20 pounds total) on a 75 mile bikepacking trip with extreme elevation climbs and drops, poor road conditions including asphalt, gravel, loose rock, mud, and sand and this rack performed incredibly. Zero play/movement or adjustments were needed despite all the abuse of the road conditions. My panniers were so stable, they didn’t budge throughout the steep 30+ mph descents through hairpins. Sure, this won’t win any weight saving contests but this will definitely outlive me and is built for a lifetime of use. The coating and mounting brackets appear to be resistant to corrosion as well. The provided quick release was also of high quality. Easy to install but ensure you have rim/v-brakes with the appropriate mounts. I wish the Amazon description was more clear because it was a challenge figuring out if this was compatible (luckily it was).

クイック式の自転車でなくとも、Ｖブレーキがついていれば取り付けられる。電動ドリルで穴を拡張すれば車輪軸に取り付けることが可能。ただしパニアバックをつけるとだいぶ低い位置になる。

May not fit on to platform rack. Otherwise, Quality product.
Five stars product. Be aware it may not fit your auto platform rack. My front wheel cannot be securely tensioned with the pannier rack on. On the pic you can see the rack is in the way, so that the yellow tensioner cannot make contact with the bike tire.
