Great Lock, but rubber peels off.
In general I am very pleased with my purchase of this lock. The extended length makes it easy to secure bike to a wider range of items, although this does make the lock heavier to carry if you don’t plan to attach it to your frame. The locking mechanism feels much more secure than less expensive u-locks I have used in the past.My major complaint with the lock is the rubber covering used to protect the U part of the lock is not very tough. It is rather thick and provides protection against minor abrasion and the elements, but I’ve dropped the lock a few times while riding causing the rubber to begin to tear and eventually peel off in areas. This doesn’t affect the performance of the lock, but it doesn’t look great and it starting to show some rust on the exposed metal.

the u-lock was really more difficult to mount on my bike than i thought it would be, but it is awesome now that I have it on there. You can feel the heavy-duty strength and no one is going to go through the trouble to get this lock off. there are no directions for the mount, but masterlock website has a decent pdf directions. Overall exactly what i was looking for. This should last a lifetime. However, be aware that the length can make it difficult to mount to some frames. it took me some adjusting, but I made it fit just right.

Solid but tricky closing
It’s a decent lock. I needed an extra long one and this was the best priced one at the time. It’s solid enough and for the few weeks I’ve been using it seems to work well enough. I don’t use the mounting bracket, so I don’t have an opinion about that. But in order to close the lock, you have to get it to line up just right. Often when locking it to a rack or a pole you have to get it at just the right angle, and I’ve been frustrated on multiple occasions trying to get it to close. Often being late made it that much more frustrating to try to get your lock to close. I think I’ve figured to line up the lock at an angle even with both sides, then straighten it to get it to slide closed.Anyway, it’s Okay (like the 3 stars mean) but be aware you might have a couple moments of frustration through you time with it.Pro:Extra LongReasonable PriceCon:Difficult to close at times

Bad Keys
While the bar is plenty strong and there are no concerns with the quality in that regard, the key just broke off in the lock. This was after very little prior use and no force was used. Since the keys are so brittle and you would always be at risk for having your bike stuck to the rack, I do not recommend this product.

Master Lock is just awesome. The first one we got had a little problem with the key after a couple of months and Master Lock replaced it, no questions asked. Didn’t even ask for a proof of purchase. Same thing several years ago when my son misplaced his locl. Great company who care about their customers.

I used this along with a locking cable and some eye lags to lock my bike to my garage wall. It worked great. I would gladly buy this again. I bought this one because the reviews were good and it didn’t cost a fortune.

This is a terrible lock. Terrible. From the get go it was always difficult to lock as the U was not a clean fit into the locking mechanism. After 3 months the little red keyhole sliding plastic piece broke off. And this week after 6 months of use the entire lock broke – key would not complete the turn and had to remove wheel from bike. Finally opened but key is now permanently stuck inside lock. Terrible do not buy.

En general muy mal candado
Lo utilicé poco, el candado está bien en todo menos en la cerradura, es de muy mala calidad y acaba por descomponerse, desde el inicio tuve problemas para meter y sacar la llave, pero así continué utilizando hasta que después de varios meses por fin ya no pude sacar la llave, es decir se atoró y quedó bloqueada la cerradura, lo bueno es que me pasó en casa y no en la calle con la bicicleta asegurada. Lástima de candado que todo está bien pero le ponen una cerradura de muy mala calidad.
