These pedals, with compatible Look cleats, do allow a relatively easy release. However, if the ease of release is your primary concern, Shimano PD-ED500 Road Touring Light Action Pedals are significantly better. The Shimano pedals, set at their lowest tension, will allow you to unclip with almost any motion away from the pedal. At the same time, they will keep your foot positioned on the pedal and prevent it from slipping around. This is an excellent choice if they are your first “clipless” pedals.

Worked with current spd cleats already on my shoes. Hoping the bearings last longer than Shimano. Had no problem unclipping in techy spots. Good float.

The pedals look good and the quality is also nice. I like how they feel while riding, but what I didn’t like is that the clipping in/out is not very smooth. I’ve been riding shimano clipless pedals and clipping in and out is buttery smooth. I wonder if it’ll get smoother over time

These pedals are nice looking and very well made. Comparable in weight to pedals from Shimano and other makers but they seem sturdier. They look like they will age well.
