Good lock with one dumb feature.
The lock seems very solid and strong and the holder is excellent; however, the lock has one annoyingly dumb (in my opinion) feature: there’s a spring in the lock mechanism that forces you to hold the key in the turned position in order to unclasp the lock. You ideally need three hands to unclasp the lock: one to hold the lock head, a second to hold the key in the turned position, and a third to pull the end bar out of the lock head. Since I only have two hands, in practice I use one hand to hold the lock head, the other to hold the key in the turned position, and then I let the bar end fall out of the lock. Dumb. But to unclasp the lock to remove it when it’s actually securing the bike to a rack, I have to employ an extra bit of dexterity to unclasp the lock. Dumber. I wonder if the comparable ABUS or Foldylock locks have this “feature.”The lock has a sliding cover to protect the opening from the elements, but it’s not automated: you need to remember to slide the cover over the keyhole.Update: The ABUS 6500 and the Foldylock don’t have the annoying feature. However, the Kryptonite has one other very useful feature: both sides of the head where the links extend swivel, which gives this lock more flexibility than the others, which swivel only on one end. The ABUS is particularly ungainly.

Extremely Rugged Lock
This thing is a beast. I can’t even begin to think about how a thief would get through it but I don’t think it would be possible to do a snatch and grab. They’d probably have to spend quite a bit of time to cut through it with a powerful diamond circular saw. It does have limited reach and would be nearly impossible to lock up two bikes with it, but for one bike it is fantastic. I supplement it with a thick cable that I can loop through the front wheel as this cannot reach both wheels.

Another winner from Kryptonite!
This is an excellent bike lock, which is apparent by Kryptonite’s guarantee that if your bike gets stolen, they will replace it. Super durable lock that is apparent by the weight of it. It is a little expensive, but the peace of mind that it brings is worth it! I only wish the lock was a little longer as it can sometimes be tough to secure around both the bike and a rack.

Super Schloß
Das Schloß macht einen sehr wertigen und stabilen Eindruck.Wie jedes andere Schloß kann auch dieses geknackt werden wenn der Wille dahintersteht und entsprechende Mittel zum Einsatz kommen, aber es wird die Fahrraddiebe sicherlich einige Zeit beschäftigen und auch abschrecken.Einziger Kritikpunkt ist, daß es etwas länger sein könnte, aber das wußte ich vorher.Für mich dennoch eine absolute Kaufempfehlung!

si presenta bene
il prodotto si presenta bene un po pesante. La prima impressione è che il diam 85 è un piccolo per legare una ebike fra telaio ruota e palo credo proprio che non riuscirò nell’impresa. Ho qualche dubbio su la parte del lucchetto perchè è interamente di plastica ma credo che sia solo un rivestimento per evitare graffi al telaio della bici perchè sembra solo un guscio esterno il resto è acciaio.

Solid Security
Mounts nicely to the underside my e-bike frame and feels like an absolute tank. Super solid, love the rotating head, and the 7/10 security rating gives me some real peace of mind. Can’t wait for some dirty little bike thief to spend half an hour battling this beefcake of a lock while I sneak up behind him and hit him with a Wet Willy.

I purchased the Kryptonite Evolution 790 Folding Bike Lock 90cm expecting a premium product and reliable customer support, especially at a $150+ price point. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing.The Click-Tight bracket/cradle failed and would no longer release the lock. The lock became stuck in the mount, and I actually damaged the lock trying to get it out. I opened a support ticket with Kryptonite and spent over a month trying to get help.Communication was very slow, often taking weeks for responses. After finally acknowledging the issue, they shipped me the wrong replacement part entirely. When I expressed frustration after more than a month without resolution, I was told I would not receive a replacement lock or refund — only another bracket.To make matters worse, the case was eventually closed without the issue being resolved and I never received the correct replacement bracket.For a company that advertises a lifetime warranty and premium security products, this level of customer service is unacceptable. The lock itself may be secure, but if the mounting system fails, the product becomes unusable. I cannot recommend this product or Kryptonite support based on my experience.

Saved My Bike When My Building got Broken into! (They stole others)
bought the Kryptonite Evolution 790 folding lock mainly for convenience and decent security, but recently it proved itself in a situation that mattered.People got into my apartment building’s storage room and stole a couple of bikes. Mine was locked with the Evolution 790 and, somehow, they couldn’t get past it! Saved my e-bike, for sure!A few things I like about it after owning it for a year and a half:- It feels solid without being ridiculously inconvenient:I wanted something more secure than a cable lock but easier to carry than a huge U-lock. The folding design hits a good middle ground. It feels sturdy and substantial, but doesn’t feel like a drag when riding on an e-bike.- Flexible locking optionsThe articulated arms make it easier to lock around awkward bike racks or larger objects where a rigid U-lock can be frustrating. In a storage room situation, that extra flexibility helped me position it to the side of the rack, when no spaces were available.Gives you a bunch of confidence:Specs and ratings are one thing, but real-life situations matter. After thieves entered the storage room and took other bikes while mine stayed put, I trust this lock a lot more (I ordered a new one, off course). Obviously, no lock is theft-proof, and I can’t say for sure how bad they struggled to break mine, but the outcome definitely increased my confidence in it.You still need good locking habits: secure the frame to something solid, remove easy-to-steal accessories, and avoid bad lock placement.

Solid, but the lock body has a crippling design issue
I’ve owned the bike lock for 11 months now.There’s a rubber gasket/oring that surrounds the latching mechanism within the lock body that can be damaged with repeated insertions. Once the gasket is damaged, the male end of the lock will no longer seat properly within the lock body, making the lock inoperable. The opening is narrow, and the gasket is securely bonded the lock body, making it incredibly difficult to remove the obstruction. Unfortunately, I lack the tools to remove the gasket, so the lock has become useless to me. I’ve attached a picture of the lock body and the obstructing gasket.The screws that held the carrier to the frame of my bike also sheered after rough riding, and the carrier fell off my bike with the lock. This can also make the unfolding of the lock less smooth. This particular issue I don’t fault them for, but it is a heavy load that is being held perpendicular to screws so keep it in mind if you choose to purchase this.
