Good stuff
Once you figure out what all the hardware is for, these are really easy to install and adjust. They stop much better than my old shimano pads and with a little toe-in they don’t make any noise whatsoever. I suspect they don’t grab quite as well as the salmon ones but it’s hard to say for sure since I’m comparing them to the brakes on my touring bike which are canti’s.

Works just as well as Salmon on dry roads, but seems more durable
I have been using the salmon pads for over 2 years, but didn’t find any benefit in the rain. The black shoes are designed for dry conditions, and I figure they’d probably last longer and hold up better with heat buildup or fade. So far they are performing admirably. They don’t squeal as badly as the salmon, but they still tend to chatter a bit with my cheap aluminum wheels. After several hard braking applications (down a wooden bridge numerous times where I have to basically come to a full stop downhill), I didn’t notice any brake dusting. The salmon pads would build up a lot of rubber dust and material at the pad. The black compound seems to be more durable and resistant to heat from braking. There’s not much compound being transferred to the wheels.Overall: 5/5 stars

Great shoes.
These are the only brake shoes I buy now. They are powerful, quiet, easy to adjust, and seem to last a long time.

Work well on mags.
Trying these on skyway mags. Seem to work well. Takes time to adjust due to the pads toe-in design.

Cool Stop Surpra’s are nothing but a Eagle with different spacers; which means like the Eagle Pads it lasts forever, has VICE LIKE stopping power and you won’t be sorry you got it. Have used these for YEARS don’t but into the hype the V-Brake is done and over with; get the right pads and save a BUNCHA weight over a disc and have just as much braking power; I have used them hauling HUGE loads for years doing things most are just not crazy enough to do in places most would not go with said Huge Loads and they ALWAYS work and flawlessly. So they will stop your Mountain bike OK and with Confidence

Superb brake shoes, great stopping power
Pretty straightforward to install, need to fiddle some with the angle that they meet the wheel to get proper toe in. Very strong stopping power, highly recommended.

I replaced my old stock brake pads with these Kool Stop Supra 2s about three months ago. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but they’ve seriously impressed me. Three months in and they still feel brand new! No squealing, no fading power – just smooth, reliable braking.
