The brake pads works as advertised. There is no noise while braking and provides good stopping power. I just wish the price was more wallet friendly.

SILENT is the way……….
I replaced the rear disc brake pad of my brand new 2012 Specialized Stumpjumper carbon comp HT 29er. The factory avid disc brake pad were good for several rides in the trail but it wore out unusually fast. The original Avid brake pad will squeak as dirt and moisture sets in the disc brake. The sound was annoying every time you hit the rear brake to slow the bike momentum. I have tried several you tube recommendation to stop the squeak but no success. I decided to replace the brake pad with kool stop brand. The kind I got was metal backing vs. aluminum. I did not see much difference in weight. My first impression of first ride was SILENCE. . . . . . . . The stopping power was better in wet and dry condition. The brake modulation was better to slow down momentum. Well folks or bikers out there, make sure your bike brake is good. A good reliable brake pad like KOOL Stop will avoid you from getting close call of hitting a trees in the trail. Happy riding.

Didn’t stop the squeeling brakes
The kool-stop pads did not stop my Elixir R brakes from howling like an injured coyote, but they did muzzle it a little bit. Performance seems to be right on par with the OEM pads. I may have to try organics the next time…but hey, at least people know I’m coming and have time to launch themselves out of the way!
