Good flat beam, bright and small mounting footprint.
These are a decent light for the money spent. After hooking them up I realized they cast a flat beam which makes them great for traffic without blinding oncoming drivers. These were installed on a motorcycle mainly to increase visibility. A couple of notes, I needed extra wiring, relay and switch that did not come with the lights. These put out a flat beam but still need to pay attention because these are bright and are a spot beam when focusing to avoid blinding on coming traffic. These are a very reasonable lights and do a great job for as small as they are. The housing is aluminum the lens are poly the mounts are steel and included bolts to mount them.

Bright light
This light is very bright. It throws a round light that will flood your way. I installed this on a E moto that did not have any lights at all. Now riding when the sun starts to go down is much more safer. I got lucky that the included mounting bracket fit perfect.

Unbelievably bright for the price
For less than $38 at the time of this review, this thing is a STEAL, a great value. It is shockingly bright and seems very well-made. I was so impressed with it that I didn’t have the heart to stick it on a Segway so instead I 3D printed a mount for my MTB and a mount for a Miwuakee M18 3AH battery and put this on my MTB… it is actually brighter than my 10 year old Night Rider LED that was the pinnacle back in the day when I bought it and this light is less than 1/10th the price that I paid for that NiteRider back in the day! Bonus points is that now I can power this with any battery I want from 12-24V and NiteRider won’t admit to any such voltage range because they want to gouge me for insane money on a replacement light since the battery is no longer available for my old one. Nope… this one will do just fine! It works great in my custom application and I will definitely order another one for my kid and maybe another for my helmet on another custom mount. Glad I ordered this.

The quality is good but cable is too thick
It’s really well built but the cable is WAY too thick and I had to spend over an hour reorganizing all the wiring to make it fit without putting strain on the cable. I will see how it holds up.

No voltage listed.
Light looks great but there is no detail in the voltage – needed to determine if the light will work with my bike and not damage the product or the bike. Can you please respond. There is no ‘contact the seller’ available on the product page.

Save yourself $ and buy this over Baja s2
This isn’t my first AKD dual pod light. Infact, I did a big in depth review on them years ago, which I’m got them on the map. This light combo is specifically for an ebike/trail bike. If you’re going to get this for your trail bike, I highly recommend you get the combo beam. Dual spot beam will turn your beam into 1 spot beam and isn’t as useful as the combo beam, that provides some width to your light spread. It comes with all the screws that you’ll need for your installation. The install is straight forward. Two bolts go on the light and 4 go onto your frame/handlebar.Keep in mind that these lights are NOT dot approved and can only be used off-road.If you’re looking at these, you’re wanting a more economical light option compared to a Baja s2, which cost 4-5x more than these. These will give you 95% of the performance of a Baja s2 at a fraction of the price. I have 8 of these lights that are over 6 years old on my 4runner (original review) and they still work to this day. So yes, their longevity is nothing to scoff at.I was really curious if there were any changes between the old set that I reviewed and the new set. These use a crew XM-L2 which are 10w per led. Two LEDs are 20w (theoretical). I tested the wattage on these it showed 1.5Amp draw at 13.8v (average vehicle operating voltage). That’s 20.7w (1.5A*13.8v=20.7w). That’s more wattage than the original set of AKDs that I reviewed. When you first turn these on, they drew 2A@13.8v but then settled and stabilized down to 1.5A.I let them run for 10 mins straight and it held 1.5A@13.8v all the way through. The hottest part on the light reached 135w via my IR thermo gun. Ambient temps were 68F so if you’re ambient temps are higher, expect them to be higher.Looks like they have improved the output slightly since my last review. Of course, this is a sample of 1 in 2025.Overall, these are fantastic lights. Especially when they go toe to toe with Baja design’s s2 pods that are significantly more $.Light output Kelvin temp is 6000k-6500k.

Durable and bright!
This light is nice and bright with a tight pattern spot beam. It reaches out 50ft easily without any loss of visual recognition. Which is very important while trail riding at night. It is color accurate at 6000k with no flickering. It is a 40w light and it shows as soon as you click the light on with how bright it is!Installation was very easy. I installed this light on a magnetic base to put on a quad or dirt bike as needed. We don’t need lights when we race so it’s nice to be able to remove it as needed. As far as durability goes, this thing is built well with no noticeable weaknesses. It’s very waterproof so far having done a submersion test in a bucket for an hour with no signs of water ingression.Dimensions:2” Tall2-1/4“ Deep3-1/8“ Wide
