The metal is so soft on this, that the vise deformed it around the axle. Don’t purchase for removal of DT Swiss ring nuts, you need something much harder.

Works, but could use improvement
I’m not sure why there are so many other reviews saying this damages hubs. It would make sense to me that one would have already removed the inner hub axle if you’re at the point of removing the drive ring.DT Swiss hubs are renown for this ring being very difficult to remove. This tool really should’ve had a hex drive or a way to attach it to a breaker bar or impact. I ended up welding it to a socket and using an impact and it has worked to disassemble two hubs.

How, in the name of all that is holy, did this pass through an inspection? Whoever is responsible for this atrocity deserves to have it thrown at their head. I regularly buy Chinese tools from Amazon, Harbor Freight, and AliExpress. This blob of tool-shaped trash is the worst I’ve seen, by a wide margin. Only buy this tool to give to your worst enemies. This is why Amazon needs to allow zero star ratings.

Wish I would have read the reviews – damaged my DT Swiss axle
When used properly the force required to remove a ring nut from any hub that has been ridden for a few years will deform this soft metal tool and damage the axle. It looked like it was hardened steel, but the vice/wrench contact area of the tool was not. I’m returning and asking for a replacement just because I need to put the ring nut back on when my replacement axle comes in. Normal peddling forces will tighten the nut completely, so it will not need nearly as much force as the removal. There is another “Chromium vanadium” steel version available for a few dollars more I may get at a later date.
