Good choice for home mechanics
Like other reviews say, this is basically a knockoff of the Park DAG 2 gauge. Works just fine for home use. Shops might want something a little nicer.

Perfect for all size bikes, easy to use
Works just the same as an expensive model for a more reasonable price. I used this to check and adjust the rear derailleur alignment on my TT bike. It installed quickly and was easy to use. In terms of fit, it installed right into the hanger where my Shimano 105 RD sits. Plenty of size to assess alignment on a 700c wheel. The rubber stoppers on the gauge make it easy to set a reference point when moving around the bottom triangle for accurate measurements all around the wheel. It’s a solid metal tool – very sturdy.

As others have mentioned, instructions are impossible, but a little fiddling around got it to work. I am sure that Park tool is better, but you cant beat the price on this one.The secret is that you can’t completely tighten the top screw as the bracket needs to slide from one side of the wheel to the other. This is due to the fact that the hanger location is offset from the hub. It it a little loose like this, but it still seemed to work correctly.I was sure that I was going to need to bring my bike into a shop after picking up a stick, but after using this tool, my derailleur was nearly perfect!

You get what you pay for
The slide bracket was on it wrong the way it was shipped, not a huge deal to fix but dumb. The pivot has play in it. Probably 2-3mm so you need to plan for that, but technically it works…

This is very similar to the Park tool, but at 1/3 the price. The instructions also appear to be a rewrite (same images, different phrasing).The threaded stud sticks out about 12mm. On my bike that slightly interfered with the cassette teeth, but I just rotated the cassette so it was between teeth. Probably better long so it fully engages, since you want to minimize thread distortion when bending.Some slight tweaks were necessary out of the box. The rod carrier (sliding bracket) was installed in the wrong orientation. Had to remove the plastic end cap to rearrange it. Also needed to bend the spring clip inside the slider so it stays in place (was just sliding freely).The instructions are well written and clear despite being a rewrite. Lots of good pointers. The only thing I’d add is to remember you’re only correcting half the error when bending. They kind of get at it with the directions to ‘repeat checking and bending’, so just make small adjustments and reset the measuring rod to prevent over-correction.There is some play in the mechanism. I found you can tighten the set screw a bit, and reduce the play to a couple millimeters.Happy with the build and finish. Main assembly and slider is chromed. It felt plenty sturdy when bending a hanger, and the welds look good. The threading handle and indicator rod seem like stainless. The threaded stud and attachment shaft look like steel with a black oxide finish.

Works great, solid metal
This feels like a high-quality tool. The metal is heavy, well-polished, and strong enough to give accurate measurements while also acting as a lever arm to re-bend the derailleur hanger back into place. It threads into the hanger on both my SRAM and Shimano bikes nice and smooth, and has the adjustable length to measure both my 27.5 and 29″ wheels.For instructions, watch the video Park Tool video “How to Align a Derailleur Hanger Using the DAG-2.2” which is perfectly applicable to this tool as well; they operate in exactly the same way except this one is $30 instead of their $100 so it’s a bargain.

Reasonably priced and well-made!
It doesn’t happen very often, but in the past, when I’ve bent my derailer hanger, it automatically becomes a trip to the LBS to fix it. With the addition of this tool to my box, I can fix it myself.This tool is very well-made. Heavy duty and all the parts are there.Fit and finish are fine. The chrome is uniform and all the parts go together smoothly. It is not the same as the blue brand, but, it’s also 1/3 of the price! Let’s be honest, straightening a hanger is not rocket science. It does exactly what it is supposed to do with no fuss.It is very sturdy and simple to use. The instructions are clear and concise, and the tool feels like it will last a long time.At this price, I’m very happy with my purchase.

Handy derailleur alignment tool…
I have an old Specialized Hard Rock (hardtail) that needed some care – among that – derailleur alignment. I saw this tool and tried it out – here’s what I like:- Overall, the tool is well-made and should last a lifetime if stored properly.- Once assembled, there is no more work required to use it moving forward.- After using the first time, derailleur alignment can be checked and adjusted in a couple minutes. Place the bicycle upside down on to the seat and handlebars. Remove the derailleur mounting screw and attach the alignment tool. You’re now ready to check and adjust the alignment.- Once aligned, my 25-year-old bike shifted and maintained gears like new.Some comments…- The kit has pieces that can come apart and there is no storage bag provided. You’ll want to work out how you want to store it – for me that is to use an old helmet bag, break the tool down so all the sliding bits are off, and putting everything into the bag.- The tool relies on bending the tab that carries the derailleur. You’ll want to temper the amount of force used depending on whether or not your tab is steel or aluminum. With any metal, too many bends will lead to cracks and breakage.- The rod used to measure alignment uses a couple small O-rings to keep it in place. These will likely need replacement after time.- You’ll want to use a light machine oil on the piece that screws into the derailleur mount to prevent rust from forming during storage.Overall, I really like this tool – a keeper for those that ride often and really use their bikes.
