    Best Pedals in the Game

    Wouldn’t go for anything else. Nice wide platform is perfect for clipping in mid-trail when you need a few seconds. Also makes it plenty stable if you’re using an SPD shoe like a Five Ten that isn’t super stiff like a typical cycling shoe. Releases and secures very easily too. I can release and plant my foot on sketch turns or corners and clip back in instantly just like I’m running flats now! I’ve also had more crashes than I’d like to admit with these too and had 0 issues with them releasing.

    They are not pretty at all, mine are just plain silver. They come in different colors but it was like double the money. These pedals are indestructible. I have always used egg beaters since the day they were invented. I like having lots of float angle makes it more natural for your knees and hips. I got this specific style because I ride some scary hard trails, the little platform around the egg beater helps you stand on the pedal when you are not clipped in while trying to get out of rough spots. I have this thing were I won’t walk my bike out of a situation if I’m on a trail. I will keep doing the spot until I can ride out. This will make you a way more skilled rider. I’ve been 33 years of Mountain biking and 38 years of cycling in total. These days at age 43 I mostly do free ride, table top jumps and slope style jumps. Anyways, great pedal

    Squeaking shoes when clipped in.

    I use to have Crank Brother pedals 10 years ago. I switched to TIME MX 2 pedals which have a similar mechanism for clipping in. The Time pedals are easier to clip into, and because the spring is round does less damage to the shoe. I decided to try Crank brothers again because the Time pedals ended up having a lot of play laterally on the spindle. Also the Mallets have a larger platform making it easier to do a short ride in sneakers.The Crank Brother pedals after a month started to squeak when clipped in. The interface between the shoe and pedal made the squeak. I am not sure if this is because the spring parted started to dig into the hard plastic of the shoe.I might have solved the problem by installing the plastic shims (they go between the cleat and shoe) that come with the pedals. We shall see if the squeak comes back.Also the brass cleats show a huge amount of wear in just a few hundred miles of gravel and road riding. Maybe I will go back to the Time pedals.

    Viel besser als SPD, besonders bei Matsch oder Schnee. Das Einklicken mit Chrankbrothers Cleats funktioniert so viel besser als mit SPD, besonders wenn die Schuhsohlen voll mit Matsch oder Schnee sind.

    A little heavier than I was expecting but they are machined aluminum and should survive a few rock strikes. Easy set up And I like the fact that you can and should pull them apart to clean and lube. I’ll up date after my first clean and lube.

    Good pedals

    Great pedals which I use for touring , they provide good foot support if your shoes have slightly flexible soles. They are heavy though.My only criticism is that the metal edges are razor sharp so if they come in contact with your ankle they will draw blood – I have the wounds to prove it. I ended up rounding them off with a dremel
