A very bright light for safety when you want to be seen!
Love it! I’ve used various Cateye equipment for many years and am always pleased with their products. Mounted easily on the handlebar. This light is the 5-LED model which puts out a good bit more light than my previous 3-LED headlight. I won’t be riding this bike on dark roads at night, so don’t need it to light up the road so I can see. But in regular blinking mode this light is very visible to oncoming traffic, and it sure makes me feel safer riding at dusk or night time.

It could flash quicker.
I’m a fan of Cateye bike gear and so I’m surprised this light isn’t up to what I consider the Cateye quality. In flashing mode, the light flashes but not at a high rate. I feel a flashing light gets drivers attention better than a constant light. I would like this light to flash at a higher rate so it gets the drivers attention better!

Great backup light
I do a lot of long night rides on my Brompton and got this as a backup for when my OEM light fails (they both use the same snap-in system so it’s a great choice). This light is far less bright than the 500lm light I normally use but love that this takes AA batteries and will last as long as I could possibly need it. The general design of this light is terrible though. The build quality is flimsy, the plastic is brittle, and the lens is designed in a way that it actually reflects a pinpoint of blinding light back in your face! I fixed mine with some tape and Sugru but it makes you wonder if a single person at Cateye actually tested this on a real bike before selling it. As a backup light this thing is amazing and the price is great. As an everyday light, you are going to be really disappointed. More companies should be making lights that take AA batteries, it’s unfortunate that this one has so many easily fixable flaws.

Seems like an ok built light, not high quality by any stretch. It took me a minute to understand how to turn it on, guess I should have read the instructions first… The light seems reasonably bright; I have yet to use it at night. I do see what others have said about the light shining back at you, I used it during a ride during the daytime and used the flashing function to let others know I was coming, and I could definitely catch the light shining around the edges of the Lense. I am going to try to find a way to correct that before I take it out at night. The battery life so far seems good, I have not left it on for a long time, but it seems to be doing well, if it does change, I will edit my review to reflect that. Overall, the light is bright, I will use it in accompaniment of a headlamp while riding at night. It mounted super easy on my handlebars and works as intended. I am looking forward to using it in the near future on trails at night.

Very bright, tightly focused beam!
This bike light is great! The quality is excellent, and the beam is very bright and tightly focused! Which is great for being able to see into the distance, but doesn’t give you a very wide field of view, so it’s perfect for fast riding, but possibly not the best for riding in busy urban areas, or areas where you need to have a wide field of view.Would be nice if it came with a built in rechargeable battery, but it runs on AAs, 2 of which are included in the package. Mounting it to the bike is very easy, ad overall I’d say it’s very well designed, works great and is a pretty decent value for such a nice light.As always if I encounter any issues or think of anything else to add I’ll update this review!

Replacement for a faulty light

Long throw light, useless pulsing mode
This is a long throw bike light. Great for when you are going fast down a known trail that you don’t have to watch for divots, rocks, mud etc. It’s not as good for seeing close-up as it sends a long beam and has a dark area before another halo closer to the rider.I dropped two stars for the useless pulsing mode. Why does every light have to pretend it’s an emergency light? What, exactly is a pulsing mode going to do in an emergency? Why don’t you find ONE person who ever actually used pulsing mode on any light EVER to be rescued.

Very bright bike or scooter headlamp. Lightweight plastic construction that appears to be durable enough for mountain biking. Installation is a breeze with the included loop clamp and clip. Battery life is being tested but as an LED lamp i expect weeks of use before needing a replacement. Design is small and sleek. Flashing mode is easy to engage.
