    Update 8/26/2021: This next bit is an update to my full review that follows below the update. Please read the whole review despite what derogatory things I have to say in this update, because these lights are a terrific safety addition for any cyclist WHILE THEY ARE WORKING. And that’s why i am giving you the benefit of my road worn experience.When I bought these, the price was about $16 for two of them. Since then the price has gone up to about $28 for two. Not as much of a deal.They are everything you could want in a safety light. I’ve had drivers thank me for having one on my seat post, and especially, one mounted at the back of my helmet. You will be seen even in daylight by motorists on the road.The problem is these eventually fail because the USB charging port is poorly constructed and wears out. Both of my lights are now useless. Twice I wrote to the company from their website asking if they wanted to stand behind their product and send me new ones. I never heard anything in return. I even mentioned that mine was the lead review of their product and they were going to get downgraded unless they at least communicated with me. Nothing.So what can you do? You can buy these when on sale, knowing that they may not last more than 2 years. It’s still an inexpensive investment in safety. If you don’t need the light immediately, you can go to AliExpress and find many similar lights with red blue flash for a fraction of the price. In fact I just bought one there for about $10, including shipping. It will take 3 weeks to get here from China, but I’m ok with that. It’s quite clear to me that the one coming from China will be the same quality as these. That means they may eventually break, but for $10 I don’t care. They really can keep you out of an accident.Now please read below for my initial review:Wow! Am I surprised! These two LED rear bike lights are very bright. And very effective! I ride in traffic quite a bit, so I currently use a Flare RT as my rear light. The Flare RT is known by serious cyclists as one of the most effective daytime and nighttime rear lights because it’s bright (about 95 lumens) and because of its well documented flash pattern that catches motorists’ attention. It is small, light weight (24 grams) and built to last. It’s also over $60, but a necessity to stay visible. But like so many cyclists, I believe you can never have too many attention grabbing lights, and I wanted a light to mount to the rear of my helmet. I also have been intrigued with the idea of having a light that can flash red and blue like a police car because every motorist dreads that flashing combo, and instinctively slows down and stays away. So I ordered these two Volcano lights, figuring for the inexpensive price I had little to lose.To my surprise these two lights rock! They each contain 10 bright LEDs (rated 100 lumens) that can be solid red, green, or blue, or flash any combination of two or three colors. They are very light at 28 grams. They are clearly visible during the day but really come to life at night, when they dazzle motorists who may not see my bike, but certainly think a cop’s ahead of them. I have one mounted on the rear of my helmet and one on my saddle post below the Flare RT. I couldn’t be happier with their performance. I have actually noticed motorists keeping a greater distance from me. The “State Trooper” psychological effect really works. These lights make me safer out in traffic and that’s the goal.If I have one complaint it is that the rubber flap that covers up the USB charging port is fragile and requires delicate handling. The flap and mounting system are similar to the Flare RT, but not as robust. I know to be gentle with that flap but for many people it will at some point get broken. And I hope the company has replacement rubber mounting straps because that is also something that could break with an inadvertent strong tug.Despite the seeming fragility of the rubber parts, I am not giving the Volcano lights any demerit points, because I am so impressed with these little buggers. For $16 bucks for two, even if they only last a year or two, they are a very inexpensive safety solution. Bravo!

    UPDATE–GREAT VALUE!!! Very BRIGHT! but One Light Stopped Working

    Lights are very bright as advertised. Easy to install although, I worry the rubber will break overtime. But the value is great as you receive two. The biggest thing I don’t like is that it only has a blinking red with blue or green but no single blinking red which is what WA state requires. It does have just a red but it does not blink. That is my only complaint for the value and quality. So check state laws before using the red/blue blinking option. I put one on my helmet and one under my seat.UPDATE-I love how bright light is but one of them has completely stopped working after 6 weeks. Also, I had to throw charging cord out–it was getting so hot I could smell the rubber insulation burning and it was no longer charging the 1 working light I have left. There’s only a 30 day return policy so I”m not sure I’ll be able to get a replacement. I am going to contact customer service and find out. I have down-graded this review due to the 2nd light not working any more.

    Real good little lights

    These lights are to be seen, not for seeing. I bike to work before dawn on well-lit city streets, and come home during day-time in heavy traffic. I have 4 lights, two front, two back, each pointed at a 45 or so angle. That may not be strictly necessary, since they have wide viewing angles.The charge lasts maybe 5 hours. They take a couple hours to recharge. The rubber seals to protect the charge ports fall off easily.These lights are a major step up from the Wal-mart items I’d previously used.I like the mounting. Easy straps that allow customized positioning, and the lights attach/detach securely in about 5 seconds from the strap mounts so that you can take them with you.

    Love these

    Great quality lights! I love the lighting options for color and steady/flash. Honestly, they’re so bright they’re difficult to look at directly. The lights have an easy adjustable mount. I put mine on the seat stay and it’s pretty stable. I find I need to recharge after about 3 rides. No problem. 10/10 would buy again.

    These lights stop charging within a month, junk!!

    I bought a pack of 2 of these lights. They had amazing colorsand i loved them. In a couple of weeks though, they stopped working and/or the charging plug fell inside the lights and could not be charged. I complained to the company about how cheap they were. They sent me a replacement pair for free. When one of them went bad, i paid for another pair. None of the 4 were working when i received my third pair. A couple weeks later, the third pair stopped charging/ being able to be charged. So i got 6 of these lights. And all 6 stopped working within a month of owning them. These lights are junk and i won’t be buying anymore of this brand…

    Bright, multiple selectable colors, increases my safety on the road

    I’m a fan in general of this line of bright and attention-getting bicycle lights, and I already own several by Volcano for my various bikes. I like this pair of lights because each light includes, all in one, integrated red, blue, and green lights. Anything that increases my visibility on the road while riding my bike increases my safety, especially as I often ride at night and low light conditions at dawn and dusk, but I use the lights often in the day as well.I especially like the flashing blue/red lights, because this instantly gets most drivers attention as it makes them think police. I’m uncertain if it’s legal to use flashing blue/red lights in all jurisdictions, so I also may use flashing blue/green/red, and flashing red/green, which also works, almost as well. I put one light in back and one light up front on my handlebars, opposite my headlight.The lights are USB rechargeable and I haven’t had any problem with battery life or LED life with these lights or any other of my Volcano products. Compared with other similar lights at my local bike shops, these are competitively priced and a good value. If they help me avoid a bike accident, they are worth far more.

    Upgrades!

    I am so GRATEFUL for this company. I lost a light one evening and the overnight shipping came before my ride the next morning! The units are quick to charge, and have a decent battery life. Will last for most of the week for a daily rider. They’ve upgraded the light settings so blue is the first option, as well as the protection silicone for the charging port! This company really cares about our safety. And again, I am so grateful they were delivered so quickly. I was so happy for it and pleasantly surprised. I will most definitely be supporting them as much as they’ve supported my rides over the years. A MUST HAVE for commuter cyclists!! Thank you all again!!

    No substitute for an IQ but very close

    The two pack means you can have one red light and the other flashing one of the ‘illegal to affix’ colours that might actually get you noticed by drivers! TBH that previous sentence is slightly incorrect; there’s no hope of a car driver spotting you even with this amazing duo but at least you tried.

    Very practical and safe

    Las compré porque me llamaron mucho la atención.* Las he utilizado de 3 a 5 veces y la iluminación es buena. Buena visibilidad desde lejos.*Se cambian de posición/ color pudiendo elegir la secuencia que más gusta.Pero…Hoy he ido a cargarlas y a una de ellas no le entra carga y tampoco se enciende.Solicito el cambio de la que está mal ya que están en garantía.
