bike cleaning adventure
As someone who has mostly brought my bike in for tune ups, the world of cleaning my own bike was mostly foreign to me, but this kit has more than enough to help me get started. It includes a variety of tools for cleaning different parts of the chain and gear mechanism that help make the process fairly simple. The bike chain scrubber thing was a bit finicky to get onto the bike, but once it was on, it was a great way to effectively clean the whole bike chain. The included cleaning solution effectively got rid of the grime and dust and left the chain looking new and clean. The kit helped me successfully clean my bike on my own without costing me as much as it would if I were to bring it to the shop. Great value overall for when I’m not too lazy to clean it on my own.

Works well but is messy
It should have better instructions. The ones included were not very helpful. Also, it should be noted to wear rubber gloves when filling and removing the cleaner part after use. It’s very messy. Trying to insert the small bolt into the small receiver was also difficult. Functionally it works great. My bike has never been quieter.

There are much better chain cleaners
The chain cleaner is not as good as the park tool chain cleaner. Cannot recommend. Also the fancy chain lubricator puts MUCH to much oil on the chain – it quickly got very gunky. But love the gear floss.

Everything I needed and more! Great cleaning job — even in the tight spaces.Cleaning my chain was easier, faster, and less of a mess than I expected. I should have done this much earlier.The “floss” tends to shred and get greasy. But they give you plenty — use one for each cleaning.Hint: To get the “Chain Scrubber” open, push in (towards center) on the tab on the opposite side of the top from the hook.

Honestly, more of a cleaning kit than I need.
____ The Good: ____* The centerpiece of this kit is the nifty gizmo which cleans your chain by just pedaling after you fill it up and hook it on. (See first two photos).* But this kit also includes brushes shaped great for cleaning your chain, a microfiber cloth, a sponge, and a bunch of gear floss. (see third photo)* The included degreaser works fine. It can give me an adequate clean with just a spray and rinse when I don’t want to set the gizmo up and screw the hook connector on.* Included chain lube seems fairly standard, although personally I prefer a different brand._____ The Bad: ____* My bigggest complaint is that this really is too much. I’m a commuter who does modest mileage riding to work and running errands daily. It’s only rarely that I do big distance rides, and when I do those, I’m not trying to race anyone or worry about every watt of performance. Yeah, I do try to keep my drivetrain cleaned and lubricated, but I also have to go to work every day in all weather. So most of the time a couple minutes of cleaning with a cloth and a brush and then re-applying lube is adequate for my maintenance needs. It’s not all that often that I do the sort of full on deep clean that this kit is ideal for. If you do less frequent, but longer more intense rides, then it makes more sense to have longer maintenance and cleaning sessions between each ride.

Everything you need to clean and lube your bike
My wife and I are casual cyclists and occasionally find ourselves on dirt trails near our vacation home. The bikes get dirty. I ordered this bicycle cleaning and maintenance kit by Venugopalan to keep our bikes reasonably clean and lubed. I opened the box and found everything one could need to clean, brush, and lube all parts of a bicycle. There is a brief instructional page for the chain scrubber, but no other directions. The product page has some images that indicate the use for most of the items in the kit, but written instructions would have been nice.I opened the bike scrubber and the axle for one of the rotating brushes fell out. Since I made the mistake of opening it over ground covered by twigs and sticks the same color of the axle, I lost it. I fashioned another from wood, but the first one should not have fallen out in my opinion. Per the instructions I tried to attach the hook to the scrubber body, and found that the tiny parts combined with the shape of the scrubber made the job very hard. I finally had to use a drill to enlarge the hole housing the attachment screw in order to make it work. Frustrating, and I found myself wondering why the hook was not attached at the factory.I used the various items to clean and lube my bike. I have a mountain bike, but the many components should work for any bike and are versatile. I especially liked the chain scrubber, which combined with the included chain cleaning fluid did a great job of getting the dirt and gunk off my chain. The other brushes, sponge, cloths, floss, and lube worked well. The components are mostly plastic but seem to be of good quality and reasonably durable. The tools have an attractive and professional appearance. I expect the kit to last a long time. I wish that an organizing storage case or box was included. I found my own plastic container in the garage to house the items. I found similar kits marketed by retailers, some even including storage containers, at a lower price. For this reason I rate this kit as an average value for the money. I deducted a star for the loose axle and difficulty in attaching the hook to the chain scrubber.
