Bike cleaner tool did not work for me.
My ebike is over four yeas old and a I thought a good chain cleaning would be a good idea. I seen this little gadget and thought I would give it a try. It came with no instructions which was probably an omen. I had a difficult time in separating the two components until I seen a lightly stamped open insignia with an arrow. After discovering that, it opened easily. The inner workings are plastic, and consist of a small chain “wheel” and two sets of brushes. One brush is geared to mesh with the wheel sprocket. The second brush is free wheeling. Not having any official chain cleaning product, I used some good dish soap detergent. I diluted the soap just a little and filled the bottom of the gadget enough to contact the brushes. I found when attaching it to the bike, the solution liked to spill out one end. Then when attaching the handle, which is a little difficult (can’t attach to the gadget before placing on chain), more liquid spilled out. Once the chain sat on the front sprocket, the geared cleaning brush would not turn. Thus the chain would not go through the cleaner tool. I tried quite a few times without success. I did note the gear and sprocket free wheel just fine if the chain is not attached. I think the concept is good, but with the components or whatever, it didn’t work for me.

In terms of appearance, it has a simple plastic housing design with internal gears and multi-angle brushes that snap over the chain without needing to disassemble anything. The general ease of use is a bit mixed because getting the two halves separated and clipping the handle into place takes some trial and error, though the basic concept of running the chain through the brushes while back-pedaling is straightforward.When it comes to durability, the plastic casing and internal gear wheels feel somewhat lightweight, so you have to be careful when spinning the pedals to ensure the internal mechanisms do not bind up. I also ran into an issue with leakage while pouring in liquid degreaser, as filling the reservoir to the recommended level caused fluid to seep out of the side seams and splash slightly while cranking. Cleaning up that messiness on the frame and floor afterward took extra effort, defeating part of the self-contained appeal.Overall, the value for money feels average at twenty dollars. It gets the chain reasonably clean without taking it off the bike, but the finicky assembly and fluid splatters mean it does not completely deliver on a fully clean or seamless maintenance routine.

The biggest advantage is that you can clean the chain while it’s still on the bike, which makes the whole process much faster and less intimidating.Using it is straightforward, even if you’ve never cleaned a bike chain before. Just fill it with your preferred chain cleaner, clip it around the chain, and turn the pedals. It takes very little effort and is much less messy than trying to scrub the chain by hand.It doesn’t produce a showroom-quality clean, especially if your chain is heavily caked with old grease and dirt. You may still need a brush or a little extra work for really neglected drivetrains. For routine maintenance, though, it does a perfectly respectable job.The construction is simple but functional, and everything fit together well during use. I bought this thinking “bike” was motorcycle, not bicycle. Motorcycle chains won’t fit, unfortunately. Looks like a great product otherwise.

Works for a quick cleaning
This thing works as it should… once you figure out how to use it and what kind of cleaning fluid to put in it. My review is twofold.1)Functionality: It works pretty well for a quick cleaning device. It snaps on easily and has a tight connection. The input hole for the cleaning fluid is easily accessible, and with a double hole, it fills without bubbling over (nice design). Its best to have a work stand to hold the bike while you work, because it will take 3 hands if you don’t. The chain flows through the apparatus nicely and the brushes contact well and clean really well. Its an easy chore, and good for a quick grime removal or if the chain is a little stiff after a long period of sitting unused. Once I was done, taking the tool off the chain made a little mess on the floor, but with practice, I’m sure that could be avoided. After the cleaning, the chain ran smoothly and had the desired effect. For this I would give it 5 stars. However… here is the 2nd part of my review…2) Instructions and Value: This product is beautifully crafted, and works well, however, you’re on your own on figuring out how to use it. Simple instructions are provided on the product page of the site, but I had to go back and dig those up. Suggestions for cleaning fluid and how much to use would be nice. Also, how much to use? I understand these items might be “user preference,” but some suggestions could have been provided. If not in the box, at least a QR code or something that takes you back to a web page with more info. I’m pretty good at figuring stuff out, so I was fine. Some people might need a little direction. As for value, its a decent price, but digging for instructions and looking up feedback from others to find out about cleaning fluid suggestions added time to my project… and time is money. Therefore, I reduced my rating to 4 stars.Overall, it does a great job for a quick cleaning. Additionally, it is a good starting point for a periodic DEEP clean. I foresee running my chain through this thing before removing it at the end of each season during my regular bike tuneups.

Cleans Well, But Feels Oversized for a Standard Bike Chain
I already have a smaller chain cleaner based on this same basic concept, and that one has worked great, so I was pretty excited to try this larger version. My first impression was just how substantial this thing is. The housing is considerably larger, and there appears to be a lot more brush surface contacting the chain as it passes through. In theory, that should mean more scrubbing with every rotation.And to be fair, it absolutely cleaned my chain.I tested it on my hybrid bicycle, though, and this particular cleaner almost felt *too* large for the job. While running the chain through it, the mechanism would occasionally feel like it was catching or binding. I had to work the pedals back and forth a little to get everything moving freely again. It wasn’t unusable by any means, but compared with my smaller cleaner, this one required noticeably more attention instead of simply letting the chain run smoothly through the brushes.On the positive side, those large brushes definitely make contact. My chain came out quite clean, possibly cleaner than I was expecting considering how aggressive the brushing action felt.One feature I wish they had included is a magnet in the bottom of the cleaner. Some chain-cleaning tools use a small magnet to collect metallic wear particles and other ferrous debris instead of allowing it to circulate around with the cleaning fluid. There isn’t one built into this design. Fortunately, that’s an easy modification. I temporarily tossed a magnet into the bottom and used another magnet on the outside to hold it in place. I may eventually just glue one permanently into the cleaner.Overall, this is a capable chain cleaner with plenty of brushing surface, but I think the oversized design is somewhat overkill for the standard chain on my hybrid bike. If you’re using it with a larger or heavier drivetrain where the extra room and brush area make more sense, I can see it being a particularly good fit. For my bicycle it works, but the smaller version of this concept feels a little more natural to use.

Helpful Chain Cleaner, but Bristles Could Be Stronger
I’ve been looking for something that makes cleaning my bike chains easier, especially compared to the usual routine of grunge brushes and a pile of rags. This tool definitely simplifies the process. It snaps on quickly, runs smoothly over the chain, and does a good job pulling off the dirt and grime without making a huge mess. For regular maintenance, it’s a nice upgrade from the old manual method.The only issue I’ve run into—and the reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five—is the softness of the bristles. They work, but they feel a bit too gentle, and I’m not entirely sure how long they’ll hold up with repeated use.
