A lifesaver for easy rear wheel removal and stress-free maintenance
Ease of UseAs someone who isn’t by any stretch a professional bike mechanic I’ve always found removing and replacing the rear wheel to be tricky compared to changing the front wheel. This tool really helps, it slides into the dropouts and holds the chain in its natural position, which means you don’t have to fight against a sagging chain or a flailing derailleur while you work, or remember how things are arranged.Versatility and FitThe adjustability of this tool is a good feature. It covers everything from 122mm to 157mm, meaning it should work on a chunky mountain bike as well as on my skinny road bike. The fact that it includes a quick-release adapter as well as the 12mm thru-axle support is great, as it means you only need this one tool regardless of what bike you are working on. The H-shaped groove is well-designed and keeps the chain securely in place even if you rotate the cranks to get into the gaps between the links.Build QualityThe construction feels very solid, using a mix of high-strength alloy and low-friction POM material. It is lightweight enough to throw into a travel bag if you are transporting your bike, but robust enough for regular use in a home workshop. It feels like a professional-grade tool that should last for years.SummaryIf you find rear-wheel removal a bit of a struggle, this is a good investment. it keeps everything stable, protects your frame from chain scratches, and makes cleaning your bike a far cleaner and quicker job.

A solid, adjustable chain keeper that keeps your drivetrain stable during travel and maintenance
This TerchPilet chain keeper is built well and does exactly what it’s supposed to do: hold the derailleur and chain in a stable position when the rear wheel is off. The adjustable threaded rod covers all the common hub widths from 122–157mm, and the included QR adapter makes it usable on both thru‑axle and quick‑release bikes. The aluminum + POM construction feels durable without being heavy, and the H‑shaped groove keeps the chain from slipping while you rotate the cranks. For cleaning, tuning, or packing a bike for travel, it’s a genuinely useful little tool.Pros- Adjustable from 122–157mm to fit most modern hub standards- Works with both 12mm thru‑axle and quick‑release setups- H‑shaped groove keeps the chain from slipping during cleaning or shiftingCons- Doesn’t include a 142mm‑specific spacer (noted by another reviewer)- You must use your own thru‑axle or QR skewer- Slightly pricier than basic plastic chain holders

So handy!
Nicely-made tool handy for tune-ups, wheel service, or chain maintenance. The aluminium is nicely machined and the plastic roller is effective. Would have been really nice to include a spacer for now-standard 142mm spacing. You’ll need to use your own QR skewer or thru-axle. Wish I’d had this a long time ago.

Excellent for bike stand maintenance
This is one handy tool that you never think you’ll need until you need it.There is nothing worse that having to remove your rear wheel and then having the chain drag on the ground where dirt sticks to it or where the rear derailleur mech is just hanging where it can get damaged or the jockey wheels get bent. This is an indispensable tool every bike mechanic should have in their toolkit. This chain keeper tool is all aluminum except for the free-spinning chain hub which is made out of ABS plastic. The width is totally adjustable from 120 mm widths up to approx. 165 mm.The keeper tool is two parts that are threaded together so it can be used for road bikes, mountain bikes and even my e-bike, but it won’t fit fat-tire bike frames. The inside diameter of the keeper tool measured in at 12.29 mm, so it’s perfect for 12 mm thru axles. There are removable end caps for road bikes with quick-release skewers. The ABS chain guide or saddle is exceptionally smooth spinning. With this tool mounted, a lot of maintenance procedures can be performed, whereas the rear wheel would have to stay on to keep the chain in position. Full and complete rear derailleur degreasing and cleaning and chain cleaning would be what I would use this keeper tool for the most. As getting to the back of the rear derailleur and the jockey wheels is next to impossible with the rear tire mounted as it gets in the way.An absolute must-have to keep your two-wheel machines in tip top shape.
