    Great value (but ARE NOT STAINLESS STEEL)

    Compared to cables from local shop at $5 EACH, these are a great value. They are magnetic so if they are stainless, it is a very low grade so look elsewhere is that’s what you want. For the price, you can’t beat these. Cable ends may have a little casting slag/burr that can easily be removed so 1 star deduction for not being stainless (for the price I doubted they were stainless but they serve my needs well).Google search: A basic stainless steel has a ‘ferritic’ structure and is magnetic. … However, the most common stainless steels are ‘austenitic’ – these have a higher chromium content and nickel is also added. It is the nickel which modifies the physical structure of the steel and makes it non-magnetic.Marine SS is all non-magnetic, so I guess these could be a ferritic grade of SS. /aw

    Economical brake cables.

    These cables are stainless steel. They provide a smooth slick surface that slides easily in older cable housings. We use them to replace cables that have corroded or broken. We’re refitting older bikes to give to those who need inexpensive transportation. The modest price and extra length make them an excellent choice for our operation.

    No brainer upgrade.

    Stainless steel cables are the easiest upgrade to make your brakes smoother and more reliable. Non-stainless cables inevitably rust and become rough and eventually immobile within their housings. Stainless cables just keep on working.
